"No Aimee today?" Lando asked, trying to keep his voice as casual as possible. He knew full well she wasn't there, he'd checked every inch of the garage for her as soon as he'd arrived at the track.
"She's not feeling well." Tracey, who also worked for the social media team, explained. "She's back at the hotel editing and resting."
"Right, okay." Lando nodded.
"Is there something I can help you with?" Tracey offered.
He shook his head. "No, I'm good. Thanks." He raised his eyes to the other side of the garage, spotting his least favourite mechanic stood beside Oscar's car.
Their eyes met, and for a moment he found himself wondering if Tom knew that he knew what he'd done last night.
"Tracey?" He asked quietly and she turned to face him again, pausing the video she'd been taking. "Can you give me Aimee's number? I just need to ask her about something."
Tracey hesitated for a moment in a way that made him certain she was going to say no, before she pulled her phone out of her pocket, waiting for him to get his before she read the number out to him.
"You're a lifesaver, cheers Trace." He called as he made his way through the garage in the direction of his drivers room.

He hesitated for a moment before hitting the dial button and calling her as he sat inside his drivers room. It wasn't his place, and maybe it was selfish of him, but he needed to clear his head before he got in the car for the race. Even knowing full well why she couldn't just walk into the garage and do her job today, the fact that she wasn't there and he couldn't see with his own eyes that nothing had happened to her had really unsettled him.
There was something about knowing that no one else seemed to know what was going on that made him feel responsible for checking up on her.
"Hello?" Came a cautious answer from the other end of the phone and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Aimee, it's Lando." He said quickly. "I just wanted to check in and see how you are?"
"How did you get my number?" She asked, bewildered.
"Don't be mad at Tracey, she had no reason not to give it to me." He said. "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine." She answered quickly.
"Aimee." He sighed. "You're not fine."
"I am." She protested. "And you have a race to win."
"Aimee..." he sighed.
"No." She cut him off. "I can't have you calling me, Lando. If he finds out he'll go nuts. Just leave me alone okay, I'm handling it. Good luck with the race." She hung up on him.

He'd tried to call her again at the end of the race but it had gone straight to voicemail. He should've been ecstatic, P3 and a podium in the first race of the year, but all he could do was let his eyes follow Tom as he moved angrily around the garage.
Oscar had unfortunately been in the wrong place at the wrong time and got himself caught up in a massive crash on the first lap. The car was absolutely wrecked and the mood in that side of the garage from the mechanics who now faced the challenge of trying to fix it was not a happy one.
