"What on earth are you doing, give me that!" Jon appeared behind her, grabbing the box of hats she'd been lugging back to the McLaren hospitality for the drivers to sign. "Where's your sling?"

"It's fine. I don't need it." She shrugged him off.

"Yeah, the same as you need to be carrying this great big box." Jon sighed. "You might possibly be the worst patient ever."

"It's fine." She brushed it off again. "I took it off, it barely even hurts anymore. I didn't want everyone asking questions about what had happened."

It was sort of true. It was still fairly painful and she kept having to ice it at every opportunity because of the way it was swelling, but Tom had been worried about people asking what happened, and she hadn't been thrilled by the idea either. So the sling the hospital had provided her with had been quickly discarded the day after Lando had taken her to the hospital.

Jon looked like he was going to say something for a moment, then stopped himself. "Just be careful, okay? The last thing you want to do is end up having surgery because you couldn't follow instructions for a couple of weeks. Have you been doing exercises?"

"I've been trying." She offered. "It hurts."

"We'll have a look later, check you're actually doing it properly. It shouldn't be that painful at this point... although if you've been carrying heavy boxes around while I'm not looking then I suppose that would explain it."

"I need to do my job." She sighed.

"There are plenty of things you could be doing that don't involve carrying a box the entire length of the paddock." He reminded her. "What's in this thing, anyway?" He gestured towards the box.

"Oh, hats and stuff for the drivers to sign. They should be here in a minute." She directed Jon into the room she was meeting them in and he deposited the box on the table.

"Perfect, saves me having to go look for Lando then." Jon sat himself down, watching Aimee as she unpacked the items out of the box and laid them out on the table ready for the drivers when they arrived.

"Have you been to China before?" Jon asked. "It's so warm."

"Yeah, I came last year. I think it was probably hotter then." She joked. It was warm, but not quite the same as the sweltering heat in Abu Dhabi earlier in the year. She felt like she could breathe this time at least.

"Have you been out to see much? I feel like I should be exploring." Jon continued.

Aimee shook her head. "No, Tom's been busy. They've got some problems with Oscar's car they need to sort before qualifying I think." He had told her, she'd just zoned out and not listened to the specifics at all. All she'd really taken in was that there was a problem and he was in a bad mood because of it.

"Are you not allowed out without him?" Jon joked, a flicker of regret passing over his face at his words and an awkward silence descended over the two of them as Aimee continued to unpack the last of the hats.

"Ah look, my two favourite people!" Lando barrelled into the room, blissfully unaware of the awkwardness. Oscar trailed behind him much more quietly, greeting them both.

"Okay, here you go." Aimee handed them both a sharpie. "Both of you sign everything and then back in the box, okay?"

There was the usual grumbling from both drivers but they sat down and did as they were told thankfully.

"I'll be back in a bit." Aimee said, ducking out of the door before they could say anything. She didn't actually have anywhere else to be, she just didn't want to stay in there with Jon giving her that awkward look and Lando was bound to say something stupid before long. It was just who he was.
