I walked outside.
I called a bird in its voice. Another power I had. It came towards me and I told her to check when Bhanumati goes outside of her palace. It went.
I went towards the room of Simra to talk with her.
I saw she was practicing dance and she seemed quite good in it. I smiled at her. She looked so pretty.
She misbalanced and I widened my eyes.
I rushed towards her and picked her up before she could fall. She had her eyes closed. She looked beautiful.
She opened her eyes and gasped seeing me.
"Arya", she whispered.
I smiled at her and made her sit on the bed. "Be careful sweetheart. You would have fallen on the ground", I said to her worriedly.
She looked at me with a sheepish look making me laugh.
"You are quite a good dancer. What say? Would you like one dance with me?" I asked.
She looked at me surprised. "You know dance?" She asked.
I was a good dancer in my school and all girls wanted to do one round couple dance with me always. I was so perfect when dancing that I could even dance and chill with the girls who didn't know how to dance.
"I am quite good in it", I smirked. I stood up and offered my hand. She looked at me surprised and kept her hand on mine.
I pulled her in the centre and started dancing with her.
"Liked it?" I asked and she nodded happily.
"With that, I wanted to say sorry to you for everything that happened. I know nothing can lessen your pain but as the king of Anga and a human being who has grown up with his struggle to fight for justice, I had to defeat your father because of his torments on innocent people of Anga", I explained to her gently.
Her smile fell as her eyes glistened. She nodded slowly.
"I am truly sorry. But I assure you that I won't ever hurt you. I won't ever cause you any pain. We will have a good married life where both are respected. I won't ever let you feel down. I promise you that", I said.
"I won't ever force you in anything. I won't let you feel left out. Everything will happen as per your wish. Please just trust me on this", I said to her.
"Arya--I--I can't f-forgive so...soon", she said and whimpered stepping back.
I could read her thoughts on her face.
She thought I would get angry. She thought I will force her on...bed. She thought that I won't entertain this. My heart broke. Truly, the condition of women in this time was worst.
"Come here", I cooed. She started crying. "Come here my dear. Don't get scared", I said and she held my hand which I forwarded.
I made her sit on the bed and gently wiped her tears.
"What made you think I would get so angry? I am not like others. I know the pain of loosing a loved one. I lost my brother too", I said and took a deep breath as she looked at me sadly.
"If I can't forgive the people involved in that after so many years", I said with gritted teeth. "I don't expect you to forgive and forget as well", I said as my tone turned soft.
"But I do believe that we can work it out. Don't we?" I asked and she wiped her tears and nodded.
"We will start as friends. We will start trusting each other and then we can go to the next level that too only if you want it. If you don't, then I won't force you", I said to her in a tone that do makes her trust me and see the honesty in my words.
"Do you trust me?" I asked.
She nodded slowly. She looked at me and smiled which assured me.
"Rest for a while ok? I will meet you later", I said and she nodded. I made her sit by the bedrest.
"Before that--see the bangles here. These are for you", I said. I made her wear the bangles as she looked at it surprised.
"Thank you Arya", she said shyly. I chuckled and kissed her forehead lightly.
"Mata Kunti gave these. They are beautiful aren't they?" I asked smiling.
She nodded brightly.
"Accha I need to rush right now to the court. Rest", I said and she nodded again.
I watched as she lied down on the bed.
With a smile, I walked out of the room and closed the doors quietly. I walked towards the court.
This was the last session before night. So much happened. I got to talk with the three of the sisters, got that letter and planned a visit to Kalinga along with the major decision of marrying Draupadi no matter what.
It was a tiring day.
I walked towards the court. "What is happening?" I asked and stood beside Duryodhan.
"We are discussing Dushala's marriage as she has gotten of age", Duryodhan said.
I nodded. "But hasn't she returned from Kanyakul just now? Give her some time", I whispered.
She was still a child! Who barely lived her life and was going to go to some other family now.
"Mitr. Marriages happen at this age only. We can't change it", Duryodhan said.
I sighed not at all feeling happy about it.
In my era back, we were in school this time. But see here, poor girls, just marry someone only to see him remarry fifty times, get no love and keep giving kids.
What a life it is!
However, my thoughts broke when I saw Dushala staring at me with some kind of longing in her eyes which made me confused.
I tried to decipher the emotions on her face but couldn't guess what it was.
Was she hoping I fight for her freedom because I always fight for right?
If that was it, I will make sure she gets her time.
