Melting Moments

In summer’s tender, golden glow,
We’d wander to the corner stand,
With coins in hand, we’d wait in line,
For scoops of joy, the day's delight.

Your laughter echoed through the air,
As flavors danced upon your tongue,
Strawberry, chocolate, mint so rare,
In those moments, we were young.

Beneath the sun's embrace, we'd sit,
Each melting drop a fleeting kiss,
In your eyes, the world seemed fit,
A perfect day, a sweetened bliss.

Now, alone, I tread those streets,
The ice cream stand a ghostly sight,
I order still, for old times' sake,
A scoop for you, a silent plight.

I taste the past with every bite,
The memories both cold and warm,
In every cone, I find a trace,
Of days with you, a love reborn.
