Savages POV:
I don't think - just move, as I jump right in front of the bullet heading for Kings back.
I have to do something, now.
My body is diving for the earth, a human shield for my Pack leader. This has to work, I had to have timed it right.
He can't die.
BANG.
The world becomes a blur and I quickly feel a ricochet of pain down my shoulder, I did it.
King is safe. The world is fading. Honey and Chocolate and earth swirl in my mouth.
My mates, my lovers.
"SAVAGE NO!"
-----
The lights are harsh against my eyes.
Bright, blinding and white... am I dead?
Surely not, if I had died I would be seeing the fiery pits of hell and not the supposed shinning lights of heaven right now.
It takes me a few seconds to focus on my other senses.
The cold chill in the air, the constant electronic beeping, the scratchy thin material against my skin-
"He is waking up!"
The smell of... Honey. Honey. Honey.
"Baby be careful of him, he will need to be checked over by the doctor before we get all over him."
I know that voice, that's gravely tone that is currently wavering with worry.
Is that worry for me?
Yes Savage you were Goddamn shot.
Ahh now it's all coming back to me.
"The bastard is taking his time, I'm sure he just likes all this attention for the last couple weeks and doesn't want it to end."
I know that voice, I would know that voice in any lifetime.
"Shut up bastard," I say in response to Chances quips.
My voice comes out cracked, making me aware of how dry my throat is, how stiff my whole body is.
A collecting of gasps sound out around the room, it's then I notice just how many people fill the tiny hospital room.
I crack my eyes open again, the blinding light dimming to a manageable amount allowing me to see the room and my pack that surrounds me.
They all stand crowded around my bed varying expressions on their face.
First I notice Faye's dazzling smile so brightly contrasting the tears streaming down her face as Cade holds her in his arms like she is his life support.
His expression is a mixture of worry and happiness reflecting my other pack mates.
Chance steps up first, placing his brawny hand against my own.
I glance up into his gaze, my usual put together perfect lover has never looked so exhausted.
It looks like he hasn't slept a wink for weeks.... Have I been out for weeks?
I turn from his gaze to bring my questions to voice but something stops me - rather someone stops me.
King.
He stands to the back of the room, his alpha dominance almost making me want to pass out again.
Is he... angry.
