"There's so many fucking people!" Thea complained, leaning on Abi as she wiped down the kitchen counter. "Who are those lot by the BBQ?"

"That's Carla's breastfeeding group."

"And the ones in the summer house?"

"Not sure. Could be baby yoga or swim club maybe?"

"This is fucking ridiculous. Where is she anyway?"

"She's just getting changed, she'll be down in a minute. Get back out there and socialise!"

"I've been sent here, Nana wants tea and Brian wants a beer."

"Rob's not burning all the food on that BBQ is he?"

"Not yet." She smiled and filled up the kettle when the doorbell went off. "For fucks sake! Not more?! Who could this be? The baby parkour group? Baby fight club?"

"Be nice! Go and let them in, I'll do the drinks."

"Thanks Abs." Thea sighed and walked through the living room rubbing her forehead, she hadn't had enough sleep for this shit but plastered a fake smile on her face and opened the front door.

"Thea!"

The cop stood with her mouth open and tried to formulate words but she was too surprised and tired to get her brain to function properly.

"Can we come in?"

"In... er... in here?" She asked Amy's parents hesitantly.

"Yes, in the house dear, that's where the party is right?" Margaret smiled and held up a large wrapped present with a smaller one on top.

"Yeah, yep, sorry, come on in."

Margaret leant up and gave her a kiss on the cheek as she entered and Terry shook her hand.

"You look so much better than we thought you would. Carla kept us updated on how you were getting on and the baby. I'm sorry we haven't visited earlier but we went travelling."

"Travelling?"

"Yes, that trip we told you about?"

"All the places Amy went on her gap year. I remember now."

"We've been gone just over a year but I've been so excited about meeting Ted. Where is he?"

"In the garden with Carla's Nan. I'll show you through, you can give him these presents. It's very kind of you."

"That little ones for Carla. Just a little thank you for keeping the grave so nice and up together. We popped by there earlier and it looks lovely." Margaret explained, leading the way through the lounge.

Thea's mind swirled with confusion and she felt all sorts of feelings at the same time, none of which she could name. It was as though she could feel everything and nothing at the same time. She tried desperately to regain her composure and cleared her throat.

"Mags, Terry, you remember Abi?"

"Oh shit." Abi said, louder than she'd intended with a guilty look at Thea.

"Yes, of course. Hello again dear." Margaret smiled at her, ignoring her profanity.

"Abs can you get them a drink and see them through to the garden, I'm just going to hurry Carla up."

"Thea-" Abi began, the worry all over her face telling the cop she was aware of the communication her wife had with Amy's parents.

"I won't be long." She calmly walked out of the kitchen then took the stairs two at a time, rushing to get to their bedroom.
