There were around twenty or so VIP strangers mingling around the office, Elena immediately approached the group and linked arms with Carla, irking Thea in the process who hung back with Aaliyah.

"Oh game on, one all!" Aaliyah said in her ear.

"When did I score." The tall woman asked, laughing at the girl's commentary.

"Dance floor. I have to give it to the pair of you, I'm straight as they come but that was some hot shit right there. That stuck up bitch knows it too."

The way she spoke made Thea chuckle, she honestly didn't care who heard her, never really malicious just hilarious and the cop liked her. Luckily for her, Carla's best friend had really warmed to her too.

Carla was now sat with Elena's friends who all looked the same, disappointed at her sudden surroundings she made eye contact with Thea. She'd much rather be over there with her but didn't want to be rude in front of everyone else. The taller woman smiled at her and she was reassured she was ok, that was until Elena put her hand on the young woman's knee and invited her outside.

"Oh shit, two-one to the bitch." Aaliyah breathed watching Carla squirm uncomfortably. Suddenly Thea was marching over towards her date until she was stopped by Ben Tyrone, he stood in her path and refused to move.

"Have we met before?" He asked, not looking at her. His attention was on his drink that he casually swirled in his hand.

"No, I don't think so."

"But you know I'm Carla's brother right? Ben."

Thea nodded and shook his hand, unsure what he was trying to get from this interaction.

"Your not from round this way are you? What brings someone like you to our dingy part of town?"

"Carla." She flatly replied, she knew there was something unhinged about this guy. He dressed smart but wasn't particularly attractive, certainly not someone to be messed with.

"Your brave talking to me about my sister, woman or not."

"You asked. I'm telling you, I'm here for Carla." Thea replied, she wasn't afraid of him even though she probably should have been.

"What? You think your fucking clever or something?" He raised his voice, mainly to intimidate her but it didn't work.

Everyone turned around to look at the pair of them, including Elena and Carla. The younger girl immediately got up and went to walk towards them but Mr Mantaz got there first.

"It's ok, it's ok." Tony smiled and cheerily waved at his guests, before leading the feuding pair to the edge of the room. "I'm so sorry, please excuse my friend here, his fucked up family values are messing with his head. Your my guest, you've probably made me thousands tonight with your show."

Thea nodded at him and shrugged her shoulders, brushing it off as if to say this had nothing to do with her. Ben, still looked like he wanted to kill her.

"And you, what the fuck is wrong with you tonight?" Tony asked him but Ben just walked off. "I'm sorry, he's protective over his sister, I understand why, I mean look at her!"

"No worries, I get it." Thea's heart was beating internally, here she was having a conversation with the man they'd been monitoring for months. It was hard to keep her natural impulses under control, especially after Ben's outburst.
