Armana Frauleins
"Your Royal Majesty." I curtsied as soon as I saw the North Emperor.
"How is my daughter-in-law?" He smiled.
This old man is my second favourite old man after the South Emperor.
"Never been better. This social gatherings are definitely for me but it can be exhausting so limitation please." I chuckled and he joined me.
"It brings me to joy to see The South Emperor has raised his daughter well." He said.
"Compliment is all his." I said. "Never needed a mother when I have him." I smiled.
"I wish Lorenzo could say the same. He's been disappointing me lately. Not that, I didn't disappoint him." He shrugged.
"Well, marriage is a risky decision no matter how you say it, Your Royale Majesty. Marriage is something you should do with someone you love. For me, I am satisfied as long as I am with Lorenzo but if you see his point of view, then it is totally unfair to get married to an unknown stranger." I said, almost choking on my own words.
I don't know what else am I going to say in order to survive. God. Please don't kill me again.
"You are a very brilliant and generous lady, Armana." He said.
"Thank you, Your Royale Majesty." I smiled. "Do let me know know if you need anything."
He chuckled, "A princess serving a king. Sounds impressive!"
Well, I did spoke like a Royale guard just now. I should really learn to speak like the Royals.
"Lorenzo." The Emperor's voice deepened.
"Father." Guilt covering his voice.
They look like they've had a conversation few moments ago.
"I will take my leave now. You two have fun." He said, smiling at me and then looked at Lorenzo, practically glared at him and continued, "Together."
Then he left, leaving the two of us alone.
I stood there with him while the noises from different people went inside my ear. So awkward. . .
I looked at Lorenzo who's eyes was on someone else. Someone else. Yeah, that's right. Why would he possibly be here with me? With someone he hates? I followed his gaze and my eyes landed on Fiona. She seemed lost, unable to converse with people.
"Fiona needs your help right there." I spoke, earning his attention.
He looked at me, scanned me then opened his lips, closed it again.
"You can leave now. Your Majesty. Your father won't be able to spot me being alone." I winked.
His eyes were examining me like I was a culprit of something. "Do not command me like you did just now." He said the first thing, making me confused. "Second, do not address Fiona by her name. It should be Lady Fiona for you. Isn't it?"
His words went straight inside my head, crystal clear. How can someone be so rude and pathetic at the same time?
"She calls me by my name too. So, I guess I can call her my friend." I answered.
He scoffed, "Friend." He muttered. "They say, the closest one betrays you the most."
"Well, if that's the case, you should keep that in mind." I gave him a fake smile.
He raised his brow, "Look, Princess Armana, I don't know what your intentions are but stay away from Fiona or else. . ." He paused.
"Or else what?"
"Your head will soon hang on the castle walls." He finished.
That made me flinch. Right. I was crossing my line. I am doing all these to survive. I guess my tongue slipped. This stupid tongue of mine!
I stayed silent, kept my head low. Afraid to match his eyes. I can't.
I cannot call myself weak but with Lorenzo by my side, I am a weak person. I fear death more than anything.
He then left me all alone.
