The morning sun streamed through the windows of the dorm, casting a warm glow over the room. Enid woke up with a happy flutter of excitement in her chest—today was Mother's Day, and she wanted to do something special for her caregivers, Wednesday, Yoko, and Davina.
She rubbed her eyes and snuggled her plushie close, then spotted the art supplies spread out on her desk. Crayons, markers, colored paper, and stickers were neatly arranged, ready for her to use. Enid had been working on her surprise for a few days, and today was the day she was finally going to present it.
"G'morning, Mama!" Enid said as she hopped out of bed, her pacifier still in her mouth.
Wednesday was already up and preparing breakfast, and she smiled at Enid's enthusiasm. "Good morning, little cub. Do you have something special planned for today?"
Enid nodded vigorously, her eyes shining. "Yeth! I made you all pwetty picshures! I wanna show you."
Yoko and Davina entered the room, also preparing for the day. They looked at Enid with curious smiles. "What's this about pictures, Enid?" Yoko asked, giving her a gentle pat on the head.
Enid beamed with pride and led them to the small table where she had arranged her artwork. "I made these for you!" she said excitedly, presenting each drawing with a flourish.
The first picture was a colorful drawing of a sun shining over a field of flowers. "This one is for you, Mama Wednesday!" Enid said, pointing to the sun. "It's to thank you for always making me happy."
Wednesday knelt down to admire the drawing, her eyes softening. "It's beautiful, Enid. Thank you."
Next, Enid presented a drawing of a big heart surrounded by stars. "This one is for you, Mommy Yoko! I love you lots and lots," she said, hugging Yoko's leg.
Yoko's heart melted as she looked at the picture. "Thank you, Enid. This means so much to me."
Finally, Enid showed Davina a drawing of a friendly, smiling bear surrounded by hearts and sparkles. "And this is for you, Ma Davina. You're the best and make me feel so safe and happy."
Davina took the drawing with a warm smile, her eyes glistening. "It's perfect, Enid. You're such a thoughtful little cub."
With her caregivers gathered around her, Enid felt a wave of happiness wash over her. She had managed to express her love for them in a way that made them all feel cherished and appreciated.
After breakfast, the caregivers decided to spend the day together, enjoying a fun outing at a nearby park. They packed a picnic basket filled with Enid's favorite snacks and headed out, with Enid skipping happily beside them.
At the park, they spread out a blanket under a big, shady tree and set up their picnic. Enid's drawings were proudly displayed on the blanket for everyone to see.
They played games, had a delightful lunch, and spent the afternoon basking in the beautiful weather. Enid's drawings were a constant reminder of the love and care they shared as a family.
As the sun began to set, they packed up their things and headed back to the dorm. Enid was tired but content, her heart full of the joy of the day.
Back in their room, Wednesday, Yoko, and Davina took turns giving Enid goodnight hugs and kisses. "Thank you for making today so special, little cub," Wednesday said, tucking Enid into bed.
Enid snuggled into her covers, her pacifier resting comfortably in her mouth. "I wuv you all so much. Happy Mother's Day!"
"We love you too, Enid," Yoko and Davina chimed in, giving her one last kiss goodnight.
