The lobby of Vought was a study in sleek modernity. Y/N took in the high glass ceilings, the polished marble floors, and the striking artwork as she stepped through the revolving doors. Her new blazer felt —sharp, professional, and designed to make an impression.
At the reception desk, she flashed a friendly smile. "Good morning! I'm Y/N, the new Head of the Journalism Department."
The receptionist, a young ginger woman with a chic bob, looked up from her computer with a polite nod. "Welcome, Ms. Y/N. I'm Ashley. Let me just get you checked in. Have a seat, and someone will be with you shortly."
Y/N took a seat in the sleek, modern waiting area and glanced around. The walls were covered with posters of The Seven, each hero looking larger than life. She mentally noted their names and faces, her mind already working on how to get close to them.
After a few minutes, Ashley reappeared. "All set. I've notified Nathaniel; he'll be down to give you the tour."
Nathaniel, a man with an air of confidence and a sharply tailored suit, arrived shortly. He extended a hand. "Ms. Y/N, I'm Nathaniel, Director of Internal Affairs. Pleasure to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Nathaniel," Y/N replied, shaking his hand firmly. "I'm ready to work with you."
Nathaniel led her through the sleek corridors of Vought, pointing out key areas. "You'll be overseeing the journalism team. Your main tasks will be managing content, interacting with The Seven, and maintaining the company's image."
"Got it," Y/N said, nodding as she took mental notes. "I'll make sure everything runs smoothly."
They ended the tour at Y/N's new office, a room with a panoramic city view. Nathaniel handed over her ID badge and office keys. "If you need anything, just let me know. Welcome aboard."
"Thanks, Nathaniel," Y/N said, watching him leave. She took a moment to settle in, setting up her desk and organizing her papers.
Just as she was getting comfortable, Ashley popped her head into the office. "Hey, Y/N. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Ashley. If you need anything or just want to chat, I'm your go-to."
"Nice to meet you, Ashley," Y/N said, offering a warm smile. "I'll definitely keep that in mind."
Ashley smiled back. "Great. If you need a coffee break or just some insider info about how things work around here, just let me know."
Y/N appreciated the offer and decided to take Ashley up on it. "Actually, a quick tour of the break room sounds perfect. I'm still figuring out the lay of the land."
Ashley led Y/N to a cozy break room, a bit cluttered but welcoming. As they walked in, a tall, muscular man, clad in his intimidating black suit and mask, was standing by the coffee machine. He barely acknowledged their presence, focusing on making his coffee.
Ashley leaned in, whispering, "Unless you don't know, that's Black Noir. He's...well, he's as mysterious oh and mute. Good luck figuring him out."
Y/N nodded, watching Black Noir's calculated movements. "Noted. Thanks for the heads-up."
As Black Noir left, Y/N took a deep breath. The first day had been a whirlwind, but she was ready. With her cover in place, her mission to uncover the dirty truth about Homelander and Vought was just beginning.
The game was on, and Y/N was prepared to play.
