The next day, Y/N woke up feeling restless. The encounter with Black Noir the night before kept replaying in her mind. She wasn't sure how to feel. She spent most of the morning pacing around her penthouse, trying to shake off the linger.
Eventually, she knew she couldn't stay cooped up all day. She had work to do, and despite everything that happened, she had to keep up the act. She got ready, trying to focus on the tasks, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Noir. His silence, his closeness, the way he had looked at her—it all unsettled her.
When she finally arrived at Vought Tower, she was met with the usual shit. Everyone seemed busy, rushing around as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. But Y/N knew better. The tension that had been growing ever since she first set foot in this place.
As she made her way to her office, she noticed Noir standing at the end of the hallway, watching her. He didn't move, didn't make any attempt to approach her, but his presence alone was enough to send her pulse racing again. She pretended not to notice, walking past him as if everything was normal, but she couldn't shake the feeling that he was always watching, always close by.
The day dragged on, with meetings and briefings filling her schedule, but Y/N's mind was elsewhere. Every time she glanced at the door, half expecting Noir to walk in, her heart would skip a beat. But he never did. He kept his distance, and for that, she was grateful—though a part of her was almost disappointed.
By the time the day was over, Y/N was exhausted, both physically and mentally. As she packed up her things, she wondered if she'd see Noir again that night. Would he show up at her penthouse, or would he stay away, giving her the space she so desperately needed?
When she left the office, the hallway was empty, no sign of Noir or anyone else. She let out a small sigh of relief, hoping that maybe, just maybe, she'd have a quiet night to herself. But as she stepped outside, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to happen.
Y/N pulled her coat tighter around herself and started walking home, trying to clear her mind. But no matter how hard she tried, one thought kept creeping back in: Noir wasn't done with her. Not yet.
The next day, Y/N woke up feeling extra ready. She had gathered more evidence against Vought, and it was time to make a decision. The CIA had sent her in to bring down Homelander and expose the corruption within Vought, but things were getting complicated—especially with Maeve's unexpected involvement.
Y/N met with Maeve in a quiet corner of the Vought tower. The tension between them was palpable, but it wasn't the hostile kind. They both knew what was at stake. Y/N took a deep breath and started, "I've gathered enough evidence to make a move. I'm thinking of sending it to my contact at the CIA."
Maeve listened, her expression unreadable. "You know if you send it to the CIA, they'll handle it their way. It could take months, maybe years, before anything happens. Meanwhile, Homelander keeps making more people suffer."
Y/N frowned. Maeve had a point. "What are you suggesting?"
"Give it to Starlight," Maeve replied. "She's out there with the boys, doing what she can to bring Vought down. She's got a voice, a platform. If she releases this, the public will demand action."
Y/N hesitated. "But Starlight's on the run. If they catch her, it's over for her."
Maeve shrugged. "She's willing to take that risk. The question is, are you?"
Y/N thought about it. She had been trained to be methodical, to follow the protocol, but nothing about this mission had been straightforward. Maeve's offer made sense, but it also meant taking a huge gamble.
"I'll think about it," Y/N finally said.
Maeve nodded, understanding the weight of the decision. "Just don't take too long. Every day Homelander's out there is a day we lose more ground."
