The next evening, Y/N and Hughie made their way toward Vought Tower. The plan was simple, on paper at least. Y/N would use her access to get them inside, they'd find the secure server room, download the necessary files, and get out without raising any alarms. But both of them knew that the odds were stacked against them.
Hughie adjusted the collar of his jacket, trying to hide his nerves as they approached the building. "Are you sure this is going to work?" he asked, his voice low and tense.
Y/N shot him a sideways glance. "Of course I can't be fucking sure Hugie. Just be careful. And stick close to me, don't say anything unless you have to, and we'll get through this."
As they entered the lobby, Y/N flashed her ID badge at the security checkpoint. The guards barely glanced at them, too accustomed to seeing her come and go to question anything. Hughie followed her lead, keeping his head down and his eyes forward.
Once they were through, Y/N led him to the elevators. "The server room is on the twenty-third floor. We'll take the back corridor to avoid any unnecessary attention," she whispered, pressing the button for the elevator.
The doors slid shut, and the elevator began its ascent. The silence was loud between them, each of them lost in their own thoughts. Y/N couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had settled in her gut. This was too risky.
The elevator dinged softly as it reached their floor. Y/N stepped out first, scanning the corridor for any signs of life. It was empty, just as she'd hoped. She motioned for Hughie to follow her, and they made their way down the hall, their footsteps echoing in the quiet.
"Server room's just around this corner," Y/N whispered, peering around the edge of the wall. "Once we're inside, I'll start the download. It'll take a few minutes, so keep an eye out."
Hughie nodded, clutching the USB drive tightly in his hand. "Got it."
Y/N swiped her ID badge again to unlock the server room door. It clicked open, and they slipped inside, the door closing softly behind them. The room was filled with rows of humming servers, the air cool and sterile. Y/N quickly made her way to the terminal, inserting the drive and typing in her credentials.
"Alright, it's started," she said, keeping her voice low. "Now we wait."
Hughie positioned himself near the door, his heart pounding in his chest. The minutes ticked by slowly, each one feeling like an eternity. Finally, the progress bar on the screen began to inch toward completion.
"We're almost there," Y/N said, glancing back at Hughie. "Just a few more seconds."
But before she could finish, the door to the server room creaked open, and Y/N's blood ran cold. Standing in the doorway, his massive frame blocking the exit, was Black Noir.
Y/N stood frozen. She was desperately trying to think of a way to keep him from noticing Hughie, who was crouched behind one of the server racks, out of Noir's sight. If Noir spotted Hughie, it would be over for both of them.
Y/N could feel her heart pounding in her chest, knowing that one wrong move would blow their entire cover. She watched as Noir's eyes darted around the room, assessing the situation. He hadn't seen Hughie yet, but the way he was moving, it was only a matter of time before he did.
Noir started stepping closer to her Y/N had to think fast—anything to keep Noir's attention on her and away from Hughie. The only problem was, the closer he got, the harder it became to maintain her composure.
When Noir finally passed her, his focus shifting to the sound of the soft ping indicating the files had been fully downloaded, Y/N's mind raced. She saw him begin to move toward the corner where Hughie was hiding. She panicked. If he found Hughie, there would be no talking their way out of this. She needed to act, and fast.
And then, without thinking, Y/N made her move.
"Fuck it," she whispered under her breath, her adrenaline spiking.
In one swift motion, Y/N turned and grabbed Noir's arm, spinning him around to face her. Before he could react, she pushed him back against the wall and kissed him through his mask, her hands gripping his face tightly.
Noir froze, completely taken aback. This was the last thing he expected, and for a few seconds, he didn't even know how to respond. Y/N's heart was racing, not just from fear but from the sheer insanity of what she was doing. But it was working—Noir was too stunned to move, too stunned to do anything but stand there, his mind trying to process the sudden turn of events.
For a moment, Y/N thought she might've gone too far. Noir's body was tense (so was his dick), his hands hovering awkwardly in the air as if he wasn't sure what to do with them. It felt like forever, but finally, he hesitantly placed his hands around her waist, pulling her closer. Y/N could tell he was trying not to give in, but she didn't let up, pressing herself against him, desperate to keep his attention on her and away from Hughie.
The plan seemed to be working—Noir was clearly distracted. But Y/N knew she couldn't keep this up for long. She pulled back slightly, just enough to look up at him, their faces inches apart. For a split second, they locked eyes, and she could see the confusion and uncertainty swirling behind his mask.
Then, Noir suddenly snapped out of it. He grabbed Y/N by the waist, pushing her back firmly. He didn't push her far, but it was clear he was trying to regain control of the situation. Y/N held her breath, wondering if her gamble had paid off.
Noir hesitated, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied her. But before Y/N could react, he moved past her, heading toward the corner of the room where he'd heard the noise. Y/N felt her heart plummet. If Noir found Hughie, everything would be over.
But as Noir turned the corner, Y/N's eyes darted toward the empty space where Hughie had been hiding. Hughie was gone. He had managed to slip away , and Y/N had bought them just enough time.
Noir stood in the corner for a moment, scanning the area. When he found nothing, he slowly turned back to Y/N, who was trying to mask her relief with an innocent expression. Noir tilted his head slightly, as if trying to make sense of what had just happened. He didn't say anything, but the tension in the room was still intense.
Y/N let out a slow breath, trying to steady herself. "Sorry about that," she said, her voice low and a bit shaky. "Just... couldn't help myself."
Noir didn't respond. He just stood there, staring at her with those dark, piercing eyes. Y/N could feel her nerves starting to fray again, but she kept her cool, waiting for Noir to make his move.
After what felt like an eternity, Noir finally stepped back, giving her a once-over before turning and walking out of the room without another word. Y/N didn't dare breathe until he was completely gone.
As soon as the door clicked shut behind him, Y/N let out a shaky breath. They had done it. Somehow, they had managed to pull it off, and Hughie had escaped unnoticed.
Y/N quickly grabbed the USB drive and slipped it into her pocket, "Why the fuck didn't Hugie take the USB?!" She thought to herself.
She needed to get out of there before Noir changed his mind or before anyone else showed up. She couldn't believe she had just kissed Black Noir to distract him, but it had worked. She just hoped it would be enough to keep him off their trail for a little while longer.
With one last glance around the room to make sure nothing was left behind, Y/N slipped out the door and hurried toward the exit. They still had a lot of work to do, but for now, she had to get this drive back to the others. And pray that they hadn't just bought themselves a one-way ticket to a quick and painful end.
A/N~ Finally :D
