Sister Sage had a sharp eye. It didn't take her long to start noticing the strange way Black Noir acted around Y/N. He was a quiet man, always had been, but there was something about how he lingered around her that caught her attention. He was more present, more watchful when Y/N was around, and Sage knew better than to dismiss such behavior as mere coincidence.
One afternoon, while most of the team was busy with their usual routines, Sage found Noir sitting alone in the corner of the lounge, drawing something in his notebook (probably Buster Beaver) . She approached him quietly, her footsteps barely making a sound on the carpeted floor.
"Noir," she said, her voice calm but direct. He looked up, his eyes hidden behind his mask, but Sage could feel the weight of his gaze on her.
"Can I ask you something?" she continued. He didn't respond verbally, of course, but he tilted his head slightly, indicating she had his attention.
Sage took a seat across from him, watching him closely. "I've noticed you spending a lot of time around Y/N lately. Do you... like her?"
For a moment, Noir just stared at her. Then, without breaking eye contact, he slowly reached for his notebook. He wrote something down quickly and then held it up for Sage to see: "That's nonsense."
Sage raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced. "Are you sure? It's just... unusual for you to take such an interest in someone like this. Especially someone who isn't a supe."
Noir remained silent, his expression hidden, but Sage could sense the tension in the air. She wasn't one to push too hard, but something about this situation felt off, and she needed to understand what was going on.
"Let me ask you another question," she said, leaning in slightly. "Are you helping her with something?"
This time, Noir's reaction was different. He seemed genuinely confused, tilting his head as if trying to process the question. Then, after a moment, he shook his head slowly, indicating a no.
Sage frowned, more puzzled than before. "So, you're not helping her with anything?"
Noir shook his head again, and this time, Sage could tell he was being sincere. He didn't know what she was implying, which only made things more complicated. She knew something was up, but the pieces weren't fitting together like they should. If Noir wasn't knowingly helping Y/N, then what was going on?
She sat back, her mind racing as she tried to piece together the puzzle. Noir's behavior wasn't adding up, and if he wasn't in on whatever was happening with Y/N, then he might be unknowingly aiding someone who was working against Vought. Someone like Y/N, who Sage was increasingly sure wasn't just a simple journalist.
But Noir didn't know that. He was acting out of something else—curiosity, perhaps, or something more instinctual. He had been keeping an eye on Y/N, protecting her even, but not out of any allegiance to her cause. He didn't know she was a mole, someone who could be working against Vought.
Sage studied Noir carefully, wondering if she should push further. But something in his posture, the way he held himself, told her that pushing would only make things worse. Noir wasn't someone who responded well to pressure, and she needed him on her side if she was going to figure out what was really going on.
"Alright," she finally said, standing up. "Just... keep an eye on her, okay? Something's not right, and I need to figure out what it is."
Noir nodded slightly, still watching her, and Sage turned to leave.
Sage knew she had to dig deeper. It was her job to figure out who might be working against Vought. But with Noir's behavior, she was starting to think Y/N might be more than just a random journalist. It wasn't definite, but the signs were there.
In her investigations, Sage was also keeping a close eye on other suspects, like Ashley, who seemed to have access to a lot of information and could potentially be involved in the plot against Vought. But Sage wasn't sure yet, she needed more evidence.
One thing Sage did know, though, was that A-Train had helped Hughie and Starlight more than once. That was another factor on her list, something that Homelander didn't know about. Sage had decided to keep that information to herself for now, as it could complicate things further.
Sage had her suspicions, but she was careful not to jump to conclusions. She continued to observe Y/N, Ashley, and A-Train, searching for any additional clues that might reveal the mole. With the pressure mounting and Homelander's suspicions growing, Sage knew she had to be careful. If she made a wrong move, it could jeopardize the future that she already saw anad planned out.
A/N~ It's almost 6 AM no sleep YAY. Ya'll I love how in the series Sage doesn't snitch on A-Train too cuz she knows how things play out in the future.
