Black Noir wasn't stupid—he knew Sage was onto him. If she hadn't already figured out everything, she was fucking close, and it was only a matter of time before Homelander found out too. The rain poured down in heavy sheets that night, soaking him as he walked along the empty streets. His mind kept drifting back to Y/N. He felt bad for the way he left things, but they couldn't be together. Not now. Not ever. It was too dangerous, for both of them.
Meanwhile, Y/N was a mess of emotions. She couldn't stay at Vought anymore. Things had gone too far out of control, and the stakes were getting higher by the second. But before she left, she needed to see him one last time. She tracked Noir's location using the tools she had at her disposal, watching the little blip on the screen that represented him. He was out in the rain, just as she thought he would be.
She didn't care about the rain or how cold it was. She didn't care that her mascara was running down her face, mixing with the tears she couldn't stop. She ran, her footsteps splashing through puddles as she dashed down the alleyway where the tracker said Noir was. She had to say goodbye, even if it was the stupidest thing she could do right now.
Finally, she saw him. Just a dark figure at the end of the road, walking with that familiar stride. Her heart pounded in her chest, and she pushed herself harder, running faster toward him. "Noir!" she called out, her voice trembling with the cold and the overwhelming emotions she was barely holding together.
As she got closer, he stopped and turned around, the rain dripping off his mask. They stood there, a few feet apart, the sound of the rain the only thing filling the silence between them. Y/N didn't know what to say. She had so much to tell him, but the words were stuck in her throat.
This was goodbye, and it hurt more than she ever imagined it would.
Y/N stood there, her breath coming in ragged gasps from both the running and the overwhelming emotions crashing down on her. She looked up at Noir, rain pouring down around them, and tried to find the right words.
"I'm sorry," she finally managed to say, her voice breaking. "I'm so sorry for everything. I didn't want it to end up like this. I—"
Before she could say anything more, Noir closed the distance between them in an instant. He didn't let her finish her apology. Instead, he pulled her into a tight hug, wrapping his arms around her as if to shield her from the world.
Y/N was taken aback, but then she melted into him, burying her face in his chest. She felt the warmth of his body through the wet fabric of his suit. She clung to him, letting out a shaky breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.
Noir didn't need to say anything. The hug said everything he couldn't. It was an apology, a goodbye, and a silent acknowledgment of everything that had passed between them. In that moment, they both understood that words weren't enough.
They stood there for what felt like an eternity, holding each other as the rain poured down. For once, Y/N felt safe, despite everything that had happened. Noir might have been silent, but his body spoke.
When they finally pulled apart, Y/N looked up at him, her heart aching. She knew this was the last time they'd be like this, and she had to memorize every detail. Noir's mask was wet, droplets of rain running down its smooth surface, and she could see the faint outline of his eyes behind it, watching her with an intensity that made her heart clench.
But they both knew it was time to go. Noir gently let go of her, taking a step back. The cold air rushed in between them, and Y/N shivered, not just from the chill but from the realization that this was really it.
Without thinking, she grabbed his arm, pulling him back toward her. He was surprised, and before he could react, Y/N reached up, pulling his mask just enough to press her lips against his.
The kiss was desperate, full of all the things they couldn't say. It was messy and wet from the rain, but Y/N didn't care. She poured everything into it—her fear, her regret, her longing. For a moment, she felt Noir stiffen, caught off guard by the suddenness of it, but then he responded, wrapping his arms around her again and pulling her closer.
The world seemed to fade away as they kissed. It was both an apology and a promise, a way to say all the things they hadn't been able to express. Noir's grip on her tightened, as if he didn't want to let go, and Y/N could feel his warmth seeping through the wet fabric of her clothes.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other as they tried to catch their breath. Y/N looked up at him.
Neither of them spoke. There was nothing left to say. They both knew this was the end, but at least they had this one moment, something to hold onto when everything else fell apart. Noir slowly released her, his fingers lingering on her skin for just a second longer before he let go completely.
Y/N watched as he pulled his mask back down, hiding his face from her again. He took a step back. But this time, she didn't try to stop him.
Noir gave her one last look, before he turned and walked away. Y/N stood there in the rain, watching until he disappeared into the darkness, the taste of him still on her lips.
