The next day at Vought, things were different. Y/N could feel it the moment she stepped into the building. Her encounter with Black Noir the previous night was still on her mind, and she had no idea how to act around him now.

She made her way to her office, trying to keep her head down and focus on the day ahead. But as soon as she walked past Noir in the hallway, she noticed it. He didn't even look at her. Not a glance, not even the briefest acknowledgment of her presence. It was like she didn't exist.

Usually, she could feel his eyes on her, that silent intensity that was always there, even when he wasn't saying anything. But today, nothing. He walked right past her, stiff and deliberate, his gaze fixed straight ahead.

Y/N swallowed hard, feeling a knot tighten in her stomach. She knew what this was. He was shutting her out. After what had happened last night, it made sense. He was probably pissed off at himself for letting things go that far, for getting too close.

But it still hurt.

All day, she tried to catch his eye, to get him to acknowledge her in some way, but he didn't. Not once. During meetings, when she passed him in the hallway, even when she was in the break room grabbing a coffee—he never looked at her. He never even glanced in her direction.

It was like she was invisible.

Y/N wasn't sure how to feel about it. Part of her was relieved. Maybe it was better this way, less complicated. But another part of her couldn't shake the sting of rejection. She hadn't expected him to act like nothing had happened, but she also hadn't expected him to completely ignore her.

By midday, the tension was getting to her. She needed to clear her head, to get away from the suffocating atmosphere of the office. So she grabbed her things and left for a long lunch break, hoping the fresh air would help.

As she stepped out of the building, she couldn't help but glance back. She half-expected to see Noir watching her from one of the windows, but there was nothing. Just the usual hustle and bustle of Vought Tower.

With a sigh, she shoved her hands in her pockets and started walking, trying to push thoughts of Noir out of her mind. But no matter how hard she tried, the image of him pulling away from her, of him ignoring her so completely, was burned into her memory.

This was how it had to be, she told herself. He was right to keep his distance. Getting attached was a mistake, and they both knew it. But that didn't make it any easier to accept.

Meanwhile, Black Noir was dealing with his own turmoil. He told himself over and over that this was the right thing to do, that ignoring her was for the best. He couldn't get attached, not now, not ever. Y/N was a distraction, one that he didn't need.

He was trying to forget her, to push her out of his mind like he did with everything else that complicated his life. But it wasn't working. The memory of her lips on his, the way she had looked at him, the way she had whispered those words—it was all stuck in his head, and it was driving him crazy.

Noir knew he couldn't allow himself to think about her like this. He was supposed to be focused, sharp, and detached. That's what made him effective, what made him the weapon Vought needed. But now, every time he closed his eyes, he saw her. Every time he tried to concentrate on a mission, his thoughts drifted back to the night before.

He hated it.

He hated that she had this kind of power over him, that she had gotten under his skin in a way no one ever had before. He wanted to forget her, to move on, to get back to being the cold, calculating supe he was known for. But it wasn't that easy.

Part of him wondered if it would be better to just stay away from her altogether, to keep his distance and let things fade naturally. But the other part, the part he was trying to ignore, wanted to see her again, to feel that rush of adrenaline and desire that he had felt when he was with her.

It was dangerous, he knew that. But the more he tried to push her away, the more he realized that forgetting her wasn't going to be as simple as he had hoped.

Y/N was different. She was something more, something that intrigued him, that made him feel alive in a way he hadn't in a long time. And that scared him.

A/N~ Ya'll they are both fighting demons xD
