you were walking with rocky like every day. the trail you follow winds through an isolated stretch of forest, far from the noise and caos of the city. itms peaceful here, just you and rocky, always running around and never getting tired.
it was a day like ever other-until it wasn't.
at first you only had a feeling, and you shrugged it off. then you heard it. a faint sound of footsteps behind you. when you turned around to look if someone was walking with their dog maybe you didn't see anyone.
weird.
you tried to shake it off, thinking maybe it was only in your head. so you starts walking again, hearing again the footsteps behind you. you turn around again and nothing. you started walking again and quicken your pace, noticing that the footsteps behind you did the same you start panicking.
rocky turned around to see where you were like he always does, checking on you. he probably sensed your panicking since he came running ti you and stayed next to you.
"c'mon buddy" you murmur, your voice trembling slightly as you quicken you pace again. rocky stays close, his usual carefree demeanor replaced by a watchful, protective stance. his presence comforts you but it doesn't ease the fear creeping up your spine.
the footsteps behind you sped up as well, the sound getting closer and closer. you turned around and this time you see someone behind you.
your breath hitches and you can feel adrenaline surging through your veins as you break into a run, rocky sprinting beside you, his ears flat against his head.
he senses your panic now, his own anxiety rising in response. he stays right next to you, his eyes darting around as if searching for the source of your fear.
the footsteps behind you are pounding now, matching your pace step for step. you don't dare look back, your mind racing with thoughts of what could happen if this person catches up to you.
you need to get away, to hide, to find a place where you can catch your breath and figure out what to do.
your lungs burn as you push yourself faster, your legs pumping hard as you veer off the trail and into the woods. the trees close in around you, the branches snagging at your clothes and whipping across your face, probably leaving some cuts.
rocky stays close, his body tense, his eyes scanning the area around you as you dive into a dense thicket, ducking behind it and crouching low, trying to steady your breathing. he presses close to your side, his body trembling with a mixture of confusion and fear.
you can't hear the footsteps anymore, but that doesn't mean the danger has passed. your hands are shaking uncontrollably, your breath coming in short, ragged gasps as you listen intently, your ears straining for any sound that might give away the person who was following you. rocky's fur brushes against your arm as he shifts nervously, his gaze flicking back and forth as he stays alert, his instincts telling him something is very wrong.
then, you hear it—a soft rustle of leaves, followed by the unmistakable crunch of footsteps. your heart leaps into your throat as you press yourself further into the shadows, praying that whoever it is will pass by without noticing you.
but then you see them.
a figure steps into view, their face obscured by a hood. they stop just a few feet away, scanning the area as if they're looking for something-or someone. you hold your breath, your heart pounding so loudly in your chest that you're sure they must hear it. rocky stiffens beside you, his muscles coiled, ready to spring into action if needed.
then the figure steps closer, and they pull back the hood.
"rebecca?" you whisper, your voice trembling with a mixture of shock and fury. the last person you ever wanted to see again is standing right in front of you, looking as if she's just taken a leisurely stroll through the park.
