Chapter Three
────────────────────Even as the team landed in Stuttgart, a disheartening sight met their eyes: Before them loomed the imposing building where Loki had allegedly sought refuge. The jet, piloted by Catarina, slowly descended toward the target location. Through the panoramic windows, she could clearly see the scene outside: A massive crowd had gathered in front of the building, shocked by the chaos unfolding there.
"Well, we made it in one piece," Natasha suddenly said, her voice sounding almost relieved. Catarina turned to her, eyes flashing with suppressed frustration. But Natasha remained unfazed, not returning her gaze and instead turning away.
"Captain, it's your turn. We'll provide support from above," she instructed the blond soldier, who was already prepared. Catarina maneuvered the jet into position as discreetly as possible, being careful not to draw the attention of the crowd or, worse, Loki. Rogers resolutely walked to the jet's ramp, opened it, and stepped to the edge without hesitation. Catarina felt her chest tighten with concern.
"I don't think this is a good idea..." she began to say, but the Captain had already jumped from the ramp. With a slight jolt, he landed directly in the midst of the crowd, which immediately erupted into chaos.
"Of course," Catarina muttered quietly, watching the Captain as he made his way through the throng. Her eyes followed his every movement, her attention focused solely on him.
On the ground, Captain America had already placed himself protectively in front of an elderly man, raising his iconic shield to deflect the energy blast Loki had fired at him. Speaking with a firm voice that revealed his determination, he addressed the god: "I once had a disagreement with a man who thought he could stand above everyone and rule."
Loki, clad in his green cloak and wearing a golden, horned crown, struck a menacing figure as he smirked mockingly. "Ah, the man out of time," he replied, casually swinging the scepter in his hand.
Captain America remained unfazed by Loki's remarks. "I'm not the one out of time," he countered confidently, readying himself for the next attack.
In the jet, Catarina skillfully adjusted the controls so Natasha would have a clear shot at Loki if the situation called for it. "Loki, drop the weapon and surrender," Natasha called through the loudspeaker, her voice loud and clear over the gathered crowd.
But Loki, seemingly unimpressed, instead raised his scepter and aimed it directly at the jet. At the last moment, Catarina jerked the controls to the side to avoid the impending attack. The jet executed a swift maneuver that took it out of the line of fire. Catarina breathed heavily, trembling with shock as she stabilized the aircraft.
"Sometimes, I'm really glad Clint taught you how to fly," Natasha said beside her, brushing the hair out of her face as she tried to recover from the adrenaline rush. "So am I," Catarina replied with a deep sigh before refocusing on the events unfolding below.
