Faith's P.O.V.

"We're at a where?" I ask in shock.

"A street race. They're pretty big here in Seattle. Have you ever been to one?" She ask curiously. I shake my head no and turn my attention back to the music and headlights.

"Come on. It'll be fun. There's some really cute guys." She says in a sing song voice and gives me a wink.

If only she knew my dating past. Well, my non-existent dating past.

I decide to play along even though I'm really not comfortable with being here.

"Ok. Sure." I huff and she squeals.

"You're gonna have so much fun!" She says and gets out. I open the door and follow her to the front of the car. She interlocks our arms and pulls me over to a huge group of people.

Great.

Ryder's P.O.V.

'Another race, another dollar.' I think to myself as Dean and I pull up to the crowd of cars and people.

"Do you think Marley's gonna come tonight?" Dean asks me anxiously while fixing his hair in the mirror. I scoff and turn to look out the window.

Marley is this chick he's been screwing for a while now. She's pretty cool I guess. She isn't clingy and speaks her mind. Dean swears their relationship is only physical but I call bullshit on that. Everyone knows he likes her and I'm pretty sure she likes him too. Now if only he would grow some balls and ask her out. Just because I don't believe in relationships, dating, and all that shit doesn't mean I'm against my friends partaking in it. That's their mistake.

"Yes dumbass. She'll be here. She obviously likes you." I huff and climb out of my car. I walk to lean against the hood and wait for Dean to catch up. We stand there and talk when the crowd starts to gather around us.

Girls begin asking me to go home with them afterwards and guys ask about the race tonight. I roll my eyes at all of them until my gaze lands on a girl a couple of years younger than me.

She has light blonde hair and blue-green eyes that hold a sense of uneasiness. She has a small but curvy figure. Her shoulders are tense and I know she's out of her element. Her plump pink lips form into a pout that would drive any man crazy. She holds a sense of innocence that turns me on more than it should. Her eyes meet mine and widen for a second before she looks away and a light blush forms on her cheeks.

My eyes take in her body once more. Her breasts are pushed up by a tight fitting tank-top that's under a blue plaid long sleeve shirt. Her skinny jeans fit her ass perfectly. Her heeled ankle boots make her look taller than she actually is. I then noticed how she looks to be struggling in someone's grip. I straighten up and try to get a better look only to laugh out loud.

Marley, Dean's girl, is practically dragging her over to us while pushing all the other people out of her way. Marley looks determined while her friend looks uncomfortable. I've never seen her around here before. I think I would have remembered a face and body like that.

"Oh come on. You'll have fun. Trust me." I hear Marley mutter to the girl as they come to stand in front of us.

"Ryder." Marley acknowledges me before tackling Dean into a hug and kissing him rather passionately. I grimace and turn my attention back to the blonde headed mystery girl just in time to see her eyes widen at Marley's actions. I stifle a laugh and turn to see Dean and Marley breaking apart with smirks on both their faces.

"Oh yeah, where are my manners?" Marley asks with a laugh. "Boys this is Faith Logan. She just moved here from Greenville, Tennessee." Marley informs us. Faith huh? That seems like an appropriate name for someone like her. She just looks so innocent and sweet. It suits her.

Dean takes Faith's hand and shakes it.

"Nice to meet you Faith. I'm Dean, a friend of Marley's." Dean says and winks at Marley. She playfully slaps him and laughs. I turn my gaze back to Faith who, surprisingly, is already looking at me.

I extend my hand and shake hers.

Faith's P.O.V.

He extends his hand and shakes mine. His rough hands feel strangely comforting against my soft ones.

"Ryder Mitchell." Is all he says yet it does something to me. It gives me a strange feeling in my stomach I've never felt before.

"Nice to meet you Ryder." I smile sheepishly. Ryder huh? The name kind of suits him.

He is probably two years older than me. He has brown hair that is kind of spiked up and looks like he just rolled out of bed. His blue eyes hold a sense of coldness that makes a shiver want to run down my spine. His frame is tall and built. You can clearly see his muscles through his tight blue t-shirt. His jeans hang off his body in a good way. There is no denying how good looking this man really is. However, he seems tense. It's like he's hiding something. Something he doesn't want people to see. But what?

"I knew it. I knew she'd have that little country accent." Dean says and laughs. I laugh and give him a small smile. I can feel Ryder's gaze on me and its starting to make me feel uncomfortable.

"Ryder you ready?" A voice calls out from the distant. Ryder looks up from me and to the person who yelled his name.

"Yeah." Ryder says and hops into his car. A very nice car at that. He reaves the engine and people move away to let him through. He pulls up to a white line and stops. A red car pulls up next to him and honks. Ryder shakes his head and turns to meet my gaze. Instead of his eyes having that coldness I first saw, they hold something else. Seriousness and adrenaline maybe? Amusement? Excitement? I don't know. He looks away just in time to see a girl with little to no clothes on step out in between the two cars. She smirks at both drivers and counts down from three. The second she slings down her arm they're off.

Rocks and dust fly from their tires and into the air. Shouts of excitement and suspense could be heard from miles away. I have to admit I'm a little anxious to see who wins myself. People get into cars to follow them while others wait around patiently.

Dean and Marley stand beside me. Marley looks super excited and Dean just smiles down at her. They seem to really like each other. I'll have to ask her about that later.

A few minutes later we hear the engines of cars and tires slinging across the dirt. Ryder looks to be in the lead. People yell and move out of the way to let the cars by. Ryder wins by at least sixty feet. Both cars come to a slow stop and both drivers jump out. They jog over to each other and shake hands. The other driver hands Ryder some money and leaves.

Ryder runs over to us and does a bro hug with Dean.

"We're going out to celebrate!" Dean yells and everybody cheers.
