Faith's P.O.V.
"So you saw him at the mall talking to some random guy. Then when you ask about it, he lied to you? Are you sure Faith?" Marley asks as we sit on my couch. I've just finished telling her about the guy from the mall and Ryder's reaction when I asked him about it.
"I'm pretty sure, yeah. He couldn't look me in the eye when I asked him about it and then when we left, the guy was still there and he was watching us. He wouldn't do that if he didn't know Ryder, right?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe?" She says questionably.
It's been two days since I went to the mall and ran into Ryder and the mysterious guy he claims he doesn't know. I don't know what it is but I can't shake the feeling that Ryder's not being completely honest with me.
Marley and I went on a jog this morning and now we're back at my house talking about everything.
"You guys at least made up after your fight though right? A little makeup sex?" Marley asks with a sly smirk and and cheeks automatically turn bright red.
"Yes we made up but no we didn't have 'makeup sex' as you so nicely put it." I slap her shoulder and she laughs. "He took me out for a nice dinner and brought me home after."
"Did he spend the night?" She asks suspiciously.
"Yes." I answer.
"But y'all didn't have sex?" She asks with wide eyes.
"No Marley we didn't have sex!" I groan.
"I'm sorry! It's just hard to believe because it's Ryder. That man is worse than a bunny in heat." She laughs and I can't help but join her.
"He's waiting until I'm ready." I say when our laughter dies down.
"Faith you don't have to answer this if you don't want to but have you ever- you know?" She asks with curious eyes.
"No actually I haven't." I answer while looking at the pillow in my lap. I never noticed how intricate its design really is.
"Wow. I'm happy for you. I wish I would've waited till I found the right guy and not just some loser short-term boyfriend in high school." She says with a small smile playing on her lips.
"It's not like I had much of a choice. My dad really never allowed me to date. Said it was because 'no one was good enough for his little girl.'
"Aw Faith that's sweet but what would your dad say now about you dating Ryder?" She asks and I sigh.
"He would be livid. Ryder is everything my dad has always warned me to stay away from. He's rebellious, dangerous, and illegally street races as a job. He would force me to break up with Ryder if he knew." I say honestly.
"Faith you're twenty years old. You're not daddy's little girl anymore. He can't force you to do anything." She says with conviction. I know she's right but it's hard to explain. It's been drilled in my head to always obey my parents. I've always done everything they've wanted me to because I never wanted to disappoint them.
Not until now.
Not until Ryder.
"Yeah. You're right." I say so she'll drop the conversation.
"Aren't I always? Now back to you and Ryder. What have y'all done?" She asks with a sly grin. This girl.
"Well we've made out a lot." I say.
"Uh huh and?" She asks.
"And he's um- well he's..." I trail off not knowing how to say it without dying from embarrassment.
