Pulling up outside Chris' Lin thanked the cab driver and knocked on the door. It was flung open straight away.
"Hey brother! It's so good to see you. Come in, come in."
Chris hugged him and Lin smiled. It was good to see him again.

Veronica shouted from the other room "Hey Lin! Be there in 2 minutes."

Lin sat down and smiled. He loved coming here. It always felt comforting.

"What you drinking bud?"

Lin looked up thoughtfully.
"Do you know what, can I just have a water? Think I'm a bit dehydrated still."

Chris nodded.
"Course. Let me go grab some ice."

Veronica walked in.
"Sorry Lin, just finishing off the lasagne."
She hugged him.
"You're looking great! London agreed with you then?"

Chris laughed as he walked back in the room.
"Think it's more someone who agreed with him."

Lin looked at the floor embarrassed.

Veronica got comfortable.
"I want to hear allll about her."

Lin smiled and bit his lip. He opened his mouth to speak but shut it again.

Chris looked at him.
"Oh my God! You're actually speechless. I never thought I'd see the day! She must be one helluva woman."

Lin smiled again and chuckled quietly, nodding.
He started at the beginning and filled them in on their time together, showing them photos and telling stories of his week away.
He got to the end and Chris laughed.
"I have never seen you this in love!"

He spun round to look at him.
"In love? I'm not in love. I've only known her a week. How can I be in love?"

Chris patted him on the arm.
"Well, if you're not I'd hate to see how sickeningly happy you get when you are."

Lin smiled thoughtfully and questioned himself - In love? No way. They had MADE love, but IN love.... No. Surely not..
It took him a second to realise he was being spoken to.

"When are you seeing her again?"

Lin sighed
"..And there's the stinger.
She's coming over in 3 months. She's got a slot on a show here, I'm busy writing and she is going to start recording so we're both busy anyway but Chris how can anything go anywhere when we live in different countries? I've known her for a week... a week! She's got me hooked, but practically how can we ever be anything more than  friends with occasional benefits?"

Veronica sighed.
"How did you leave it?"

Lin shrugged.
"Honestly, I don't really know. She said she will see me when she comes over. She also said she misses me, but I messaged yesterday and no response. I don't know if I'm making more of our time together than there actually was. Maybe to her it was just a bit of fun."

Veronica shook her head.
"From what you've said it sounds more than just a bit of fun."

Lin shrugged.
"I guess only time will tell, I need to focus on work and stop obsessing though I know that."

Veronica smiled at him.
"You know what's good for stopping obsessions? Food! Let's eat!"

"We're here"

Kelly jolted awake.
"Shit sorry, must've dozed off."
She paid the driver and walked to Steve's door. Not pausing to knock she walked straight in.
Steve was in the kitchen, pots and pans surrounding him
"Hey shit bag."

He turned and looked at Kelly with a wooden spoon in his hand.
"Hey dog face, thought you were supposed to be helping with all this?" He walked over to hug her but stopped abruptly.
"Jesus! You smell like a brewery! How much did you put away last night? Have you even been home?"
