Lin and Steve walked into the kitchen where Luis was still weighing out ingredients.
"Ah! Lin-Manuel"
He looked at Steve and held his hand out.
"Luis Miranda. Welcome to our home."
Steve smiled as best he could with his nerves in pieces and shook it.
"Steve, I'm Kelly's brother."
"Ah! Yes, Lin's mentioned you."
He looked back to Lin.
"Do I get to know what's going on?"
Lin sat down heavily on a stool and put his head in his hands.
"I've made the biggest mistake of my life."
Luis sat opposite.
"Mistakes can always be sorted. No matter how difficult they seem."
Lin laughed quickly.
"It might be too late for this one to be rectified."
He checked his phone again, he had asked if she had gone through with it in 4 separate messages, not getting a response to any. He assumed no news was bad news.
Luis frowned.
"Why don't you start at the beginning. I think I have some catching up to do."
Kelly got out of the cab and took a deep breath.
Luz walked to her and took her hand.
"Ready?"
Kelly nodded.
Lin heard the door open and walked quickly into the hallway, followed by Luis and Steve.
Luz looked at them all.
"Why don't you both go through to the room. You can have some privacy."
Lin nodded, not taking his eyes off Kelly.
They shut the door behind them, Kelly looked at him saying nothing. Lin searched her face for an answer to a question he didn't dare ask.
His eyes moved to her belly and he finally blurted out.
"I'm so sorry, God I'm so sorry. Am I too late?"
He held his breath while he looked at her.
Kelly sighed.
"No, I couldn't do it."
Lin stared at her.
"So, you're still... you're..."
"I'm pregnant and you are the father, yes."
Lin burst into tears and flung his arms round her.
"Fuck I thought I was too late. Oh my God. Oh my God. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I was so nasty to you. I didn't give you chance to explain. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean any of it. I was just so hurt when I thought.."
"Do you really think I would've slept with someone else? Do you really think I'm so shallow. God Lin! Surely you know you meant more to me than that?"
He buried his head into her neck and sobbed. Kelly tried to stay calm but seeing Lin so upset broke her. They cried until neither of them could cry anymore. Lin pulled away and rested his forehead on Kelly's, she closed her eyes.
"I need to understand what the hell is going on Lin. I know you want this baby. I don't know if you want me."
Lin held her by the shoulders and looked at her.
"From the second you glared at me from that stage I've wanted you. If you had come back today and told me I was too late I would still fucking want you. I've been lost without you."
He sighed.
"I know why you are doubting me. Just let me explain everything please."
He went through the full story with her.
"I can't believe Claire did that to you. I don't think I've ever heard anything so selfish and heartless in my life."
Lin shrugged.
"I know. I guess weirdly she did me a favour though. I've got my dream girl, well I have if she forgives me."
He looked at her, his dark eyes full of worry.
Kelly smiled at him.
"I forgive you."
Lin shoulders relaxed.
"I'm going to be a dad.... God Kel, we are going to be parents!"
