It was night, and rules had been established. The rules were written on a small blackboard, found from who knows where. You stood there reading it.
Rule No. 1: Stay or move in pairs or groups.
All survivors were paired, so Y/n started searching for her name, but it wasn't there. She wanted to ask someone but didn't have the strength to do so, still shaken from her encounter with Sang-wook and Eun-yu.
She understood that Sang-wook might have been under the influence of the medicine, or perhaps the pain made him lightheaded, but what about Eun-yu? She wasn't clingy to anyone in the series. What Eun-yu said still gave Y/n goosebumps.
You've been avoiding her since then. You never wanted to make her obedient, if that was what she was angry about. But no matter how you tried to console yourself, you couldn't forget how possessive she was, and it honestly scared you. You just wished she had been joking or something like that.
Someone stood beside you. Turning, you saw Yi-kyung standing there. Wasn't she supposed to go find her husband? You kept looking at her, trying to remember if you missed any scenes. She turned toward you and held out her hand.
"We're paired," she said, looking into your eyes and giving you a small smile. You looked back at the board to search for your name, but it still wasn't there. Looking back at her, you gave her a confused expression.
"But—" you started to say, but she cut you off.
"They forgot us. I also came here to search for our names but didn't see them, so I went to ask. They forgot to include us, that's why. Now we're paired. Is that not okay with you?" she asked in a neutral tone.
"No, no, that wasn't what I was thinking. I was just confused as to why our names weren't there, but you explained it, so it's fine," you said, giving her a small smile and playfully shaking her hand.
"They're serving food. Let's go," she said, grabbing your hand tightly and pulling you toward the food area.
Rule No. 2: Food is served only once a day.
They handed you a plastic plate with a small rice ball and some fried snacks. Next to you, Byeom-il, another survivor, stuffed his mouth with food and handed his plate back to the server.
Y/n and Yi-kyung sat down and began eating.
"Do you want to eat mine too?" Yi-kyung offered her plate to Y/n, who quickly shook her head.
"No, why would I? That's yours. Eat up," Y/n replied, then picked up the rice ball and tasted it. It was delicious, so she finished it in one bite. She then looked at Yi-kyung with embarrassment for eating so quickly. Yi-kyung just stared and smiled at her, then lifted her hand and cleaned Y/n's mouth. Y/n smiled, whispering a soft "thank you" before looking down.
"You can eat mine too if you're still hungry. Besides, this food isn't very filling; you might get weak," she said again, offering her plate.
At this, Y/n looked around at everyone else who was eating. She looked down, deep in thought, then suddenly stood up. Yi-kyung's gaze followed her.
"I'll be back in a bit. I just remembered something," Y/n said before running off, leaving a stunned Yi-kyung sitting there. Yi-kyung looked in the direction you ran off and chuckled to herself.
"Little bunny," she murmured.
You roamed around near the store, searching for the storeroom where your belongings were kept. You had a few grains stocked and some recipes that could fill everyone's stomachs and provide them with energy.
