You and Yi-kyung rushed towards Ji-su's room, fear and urgency driving your every step. You flung open the door and entered, finding Ji-su still asleep on her bed. Gently, you shook her awake, your heart racing as you did so. Her eyes fluttered open, and upon seeing you, a smile of recognition spread across her face.
"Hey, get up," you whispered urgently, keeping your voice low to avoid alerting anyone outside. "We're being attacked."
Ji-su's expression shifted from confusion to alarm. "What? Why?" she croaked, her voice hoarse from hours of silence.
You quickly helped her sit up, your eyes full of concern. "I need you to hide and stay hidden until it's safe. You're strong, but right now, you need to rest. Can you do that for me?"
Ji-su hesitated, her concern for you evident, but she nodded. You guided her to a hidden spot deep within the room, making sure it was a place where no one would think to look. Once you were sure she was secure, you and Yi-kyung set off to find the others who might not be in the main hall.
As you moved through the dimly lit corridors, a sudden gunshot rang out, making you flinch. The sound was terrifying, and your mind raced with thoughts of the gang's ruthlessness. Yi-kyung's calm demeanor was a stark contrast to your panic. She noticed your fear and stopped, pulling you into a corner.
"Are you okay?" Yi-kyung asked, her voice steady as she held your shoulders. You nodded, trying to steady your breathing. Despite your terror, you were reassured by her presence; she was a trained Army officer, after all.
"We need to find others" you said knowing some of the survivors were not present in the hall.
she shook her head not wanting to leave you alone, you gave her a pleading look.
Yi-kyung scanned the area quickly. "Stay here and don't move. I'll see if I can find anyone else."
With a last, reassuring glance, she covered your mouth and pointed to a corner where you should stay hidden. As she prepared to leave, you handed her a pocket knife, your hands trembling. "Take care," you whispered, a lump in your throat. You had prepared for this, but the reality was far scarier than you had imagined.
Yuri's eyes softened as she accepted the knife and caressed your cheek. "Remember to stay hidden. I'll be back soon."
You watched her leave, feeling a deep sense of dread. You waited in your hiding spot for what felt like an eternity. Ten minutes later, you heard a soft, muffled cry. Cautiously, you peered out and saw Yeong-su huddled behind some crates, tears streaming down his face.
"Yeong-su!" you whispered urgently, crawling over to him. His eyes widened with relief when he saw you. "It's okay. I'm here. We need to get you somewhere safe."
With gentle hands, you guided him to a duct where the slime monster used to be. It was a secure location, and you knew he'd be safe there. "Stay hidden, and don't come out until it's safe," you instructed.
Just as you turned to leave, you saw one of the gang members approaching. Panic surged through you. You ducked down and ran silently in the opposite direction. But then you collided with someone—Ui-myeong.
Your heart stopped as you looked up into his cold, calculating eyes. He seemed as shocked to see you as you were to see him. For a moment, you both stood frozen. Then, as you heard footsteps approaching, you seized the opportunity and dashed away, your heart pounding in your chest.
You fled into a nearby room, hiding behind a pile of large boxes. After what felt like hours, you heard footsteps and peered out to see Yuri entering the room, followed by a man who locked the door behind him.
