Y/n woke up to the unfamiliar weight on her stomach and found Hyun-su curled up beside her, his head resting on her abdomen. She hesitated to wake him, but patted his shoulder as he woke up. Sitting up he blinked his eyes to clear his gaze but smiled when he saw her sitting near him.

"Thank you" Y/n smiled at him and stood up looking at him.

"I'll get going then I've to do something" His smile faltered but he smiled again and nodded his head at her. She stepped towards the door but it opened few survivors standing there.

They were shocked when they saw Y/n inside and stared at her but she ignored them. Her gaze fell at the chit in their hand which they handed to Hyun-su, listing products they wanted him to retrieve from the dangerous floors above, where monsters lurked. Hyun-su, ever compliant, silently reached for the chit, but Y/n's hand darted out, Taking it before him. Her eyes scanned the list—sunscreen, a diary, and other frivolous items. Anger flared within her.

"Are you kidding me?" she snapped, glaring at the group. "You're sending him up there for this junk? Why don't you go get it yourselves?"

Hyun-su, in his usual quiet manner, tried to diffuse the situation. "It's okay, I can go—"

But Y/n wasn't backing down. She rushes towards the security room where Eun-hyeok was. She put the chit on the table.

"Eun-hyeok," she began, forcing herself to maintain her composure, "we need to talk about Hyun-su."

Eun-hyeok glanced up from the monitors, his expression unreadable. "What about him?"

Y/n took a deep breath, steadying herself. "You need to stop what's happening to him. The way the others are treating him—like he's expendable, like he's not one of us—it's because of how you're behaving with him."

His eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing, waiting for her to continue. Y/n pressed on, her tone resolute. "Hyun-su may be infected, but he's still a person. He's risking his life for us every time he goes out there, and yet you're letting them treat him like a tool, like he's already lost to the monsters."

Eun-hyeok's gaze flickered with something—perhaps guilt, perhaps frustration—but he remained silent. Y/n stepped closer, her voice softening, though it held the same intensity. "He trusts you, Eun-hyeok. We all do. But if you keep letting this happen, if you keep pushing him like this, you're going to lose him. And we're going to lose ourselves."

Behind survivors gather as they began murmuring about hyun-su. She turns towards them with frustration.

She tears the chit in half, her voice filled with anger. "No, it's not okay! This isn't just about survival anymore— you guys are sending someone to death for these petty things which aren't even needed to survive.

Some survivors shifted uncomfortably, realizing she had a point, while others remained defiant. One of them, eyes filled with contempt, shouted, "He's a monster! He won't die like the rest of us!"

Y/n whirled on the speaker, her gaze piercing. "With attitudes like that, it won't be long before you're monsters too. And people like you? You'll be the first to turn."

The words hung in the air, heavy and sharp. The tension reached a breaking point when one of the more aggressive survivors shoved Y/n, causing her to stumble. The room collectively held its breath, but before anyone could react, Jae-heon appeared at her side, his face a mask of anger. Without hesitation, he struck the man who had pushed her, the flat of his sword pressed against the offender's throat. The survivor's bravado crumbled as he backed away in fear.
