Mr. Jun. He's a puzzle wrapped in a suit.
Why the hell would he wanna make me the detective when there are seniors around? Lost in a fog of thoughts, I take slow, tentative steps toward our shared workspace, only to crash into that towering wall of a man. 'Holy fuck, are you blind?' I snap, clutching my biceps.
'Shorty, don't curse.' He pats my head like I'm some misbehaving child and saunters off.
What the actual fuck?!
Did that guy just pat my head? ShorrTy, don't cuss, mea-mea-mea. Ugh. I mock him under my breath and stomp the hardwood beneath my feet, each step echoing my irritation. What a waste of my good luck. I clutched my bag and a photo of my crime board before bolting out of Nexus and going straight to Lili's. I needed to escape my spiraling thoughts. This process feels like a never-ending loop, the same tasks on repeat, no progress, just me stuck with that old-ass laptop and the cryptic enigma inside it, staring at me, begging me to unlock its secrets.
Agh. I hate this.
Muttering to myself, I finally reach Lili's and find Jiwoo there, tears streaming down her cheeks. Lili is hugging her, trying to offer some comfort. She gestures for me to sit, and I do.
'Um, Jiwoo, you...okay?' I'm not exactly a social butterfly. 'You came back from Seorin yesterday, right?' When it comes to comforting someone, I'm a walking disaster. I almost say something stupid like; 'Oh, it's not a big deal,' but Lili shoots me a look that says 'Shut up.'
Right. I gesture that my mouth is zipped, hoping she trusts me. Spoiler: she doesn't. Not in situations like this.
Sigh.
