"I always wanted you,
even when I didn't know
What I wanted;
even before I knew you."****************

With a deep breath, I pulled the collar of my coat tighter and slipped through a side entrance, a rusted door that creaked ominously as it opened. Inside, the air was dank and stale, filled with the stench of mildew and something far more sinister. The narrow hallway was illuminated only by the occasional flicker of a malfunctioning bulb. The oppressive darkness seemed to close in around me, and every shadow felt like a lurking threat.
I moved quickly, my footsteps muffled by the filthy floor. My flashlight cut through the darkness, revealing grime-covered walls and peeling paint. The layout of the building was just as the file had described, and I followed the path marked by a series of hastily scribbled directions. My goal was to locate the central room where the trafficking operations were reportedly conducted.
As I turned a corner, I heard muffled voices, low and urgent. I froze, my breath catching in my throat. I wasn't alone. With my heart pounding, I pressed myself against the wall, trying to make out the words.
'I told you we need to keep this on lockdown,' a gruff voice said. 'The cops are getting closer, and if they find out—'
Another voice, more nervous, interjected. 'I don't know how much longer we can keep this up. The girls—they're getting restless. They know something's wrong.'
My pulse raced. The sound of frightened voices cut through the suffocating fear. These were the voices of those trapped, their hopes and fears mingling in the dark corners of this place. I had to keep moving, had to find them before it was too late.
I followed the voices, my steps as quiet as possible. The corridor opened into a large room, dimly lit by a single hanging bulb. The sight that greeted me was both horrifying and heartbreaking. Rows of crude, makeshift cages lined the walls, each one containing a young girl who looked up with wide, fearful eyes. They were shackled, their expressions a mix of terror and resignation.
The traffickers were busy at a desk near the back, their backs turned to me. They were going through a stack of documents, discussing their operations in low, urgent tones. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my shaking hands. This was it. The moment I had been waiting for.
I raised my phone to record, capturing the scene. The traffickers needed to be exposed, their crimes laid bare for the world to see. As I filmed, I noticed a key ring hanging from a hook near the desk. It must have been the key to the cages.
I edged closer, moving with the stealth of a predator. Just as I reached for the keys, a sudden noise from behind made me freeze. One of the traffickers had turned, his eyes narrowing as he spotted me.
