Jordan had flown to Manchester to visit her dad. The city held a lot of memories for her, both good and bad. As she navigated the familiar streets, she felt a mix of nostalgia and anticipation. Her dad was thrilled to have her visit, and they spent the first day catching up over long walks and dinners at their favorite spots.
The next day, Jordan had a scheduled photoshoot with Burberry for their new collection. It was an exciting opportunity, and she was eager to dive into the creative process. The shoot was set in a sleek, modern studio in the heart of Manchester. As she arrived, she was greeted by the team, who were buzzing with energy.
Jordan was shown to her dressing room, where stylists were waiting with racks of clothing. The pieces were stunning classic Burberry with a modern twist. As she changed into the first outfit, she focused on the task ahead, ready to give her best to the camera. Just as she was about to step out onto the set, she heard a familiar voice in the hallway. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized it immediately,Marcus.
Jordan took a deep breath, steadying herself before stepping into the hallway. There he was, looking every bit as she remembered tall, athletic, and dressed sharply in Burberry's latest collection. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.
"Jordan," Marcus said, his voice carrying a mix of surprise and something softer, more personal.
"Marcus," she replied, trying to keep her tone neutral. They stood in awkward silence for a few seconds before Marcus broke the tension. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"Me neither," Jordan replied, forcing a smile. "I'm here for the shoot."
"Yeah, same here," Marcus said, his eyes studying her face as if searching for something. "You look... good."
"Thanks," she said, not quite meeting his gaze. "You too."
They were interrupted by the director calling Marcus to the set. As he turned to leave, he hesitated, then turned back to her. "Jordan, I heard about what happened. I'm really sorry."
The words hung in the air between them, heavy with unspoken emotions. Jordan felt a knot in her stomach, the pain of her recent loss still fresh. The fact that Marcus knew made it all the more complicated. After all, they had gone through something similar in the past, losing their own baby during their time together.
"Thank you," she said quietly, not sure what else to say. There was so much history between them, so much left unsaid, but this wasn't the time or place.
The photoshoot went on with an undercurrent of tension. Jordan and Marcus were professional, keeping their distance and focusing on the work at hand. The camera captured their best angles, but behind the lens, both of them were grappling with the emotions stirred by their unexpected reunion.
At one point, they were positioned close to each other for a group shot. The proximity was almost too much, the memories of their past relationship hovering just beneath the surface. They exchanged polite smiles, but the connection they once shared was unmistakable.
When the shoot wrapped up, Jordan quickly changed out of the clothes and prepared to leave. She hoped to slip out quietly without another encounter with Marcus. But as she exited the studio, there he was, waiting by the door.
"Jordan," he called out, his tone softer now. "Can we talk for a minute?"
She hesitated, then nodded. They found a quiet corner outside the studio, away from the bustling crew.
"I know this is awkward," Marcus began, running a hand through his hair. "But I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for everything. For what happened with us, and for what you're going through now."
Jordan looked at him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. "It's... it's okay, Marcus. We both went through a lot back then."
"I've thought about you, you know," he admitted. "Wondered how you were doing."
"I'm doing okay," she said, though her voice wavered slightly. "Life's been... complicated, but I'm managing."
They stood there in silence, the weight of their shared history pressing down on them. Finally, Marcus spoke again. "I just want you to know that I wish you the best, Jordan. You deserve to be happy."
"Thank you," she replied, feeling a mix of emotions, gratitude, sadness, and a hint of closure.
With a final nod, they parted ways, both knowing that this encounter was just another chapter in their complex story. As Jordan walked away, she felt a strange sense of peace. The past was behind her, and she was ready to move forward.
