The first day back at work after the whirlwind of her wedding and Kylian's match felt like a shift in reality for Jordan. She walked into her office, feeling a renewed sense of purpose, ready to dive into her caseload. Today was also Michael's first day at the firm, and she was eager to help him get settled in.
Michael arrived with a bright smile, his excitement palpable. Jordan greeted him warmly. "Welcome to your new home away from home," she said, gesturing around the sleek, modern office space.
"Thanks, Jordan. It feels surreal being here. I've heard great things about the firm, but seeing it for myself—it's incredible," Michael responded, taking in the atmosphere.
"You'll love it here," Jordan assured him. "The team is fantastic, and we have a great support system. If you ever need anything, you know where to find me."
The morning passed quickly, with introductions to colleagues and meetings about new cases. At lunchtime, Jordan and Michael decided to take a break and grab lunch together. They walked to a nearby café, one of Jordan's favorites for a quick yet delicious meal.
"So, how's married life treating you?" Michael asked as they sat down, his tone casual but curious.
Jordan smiled, a glow in her eyes. "It's been amazing. We had a small celebration with family and friends after the wedding, and it just feels like everything has fallen into place."
"I'm happy for you, Jordan," Michael said sincerely. "You deserve all the happiness in the world."
"Thanks, Michael," she replied, feeling the ease of their old friendship slipping back into place. "And what about you? Any exciting plans now that you're back in Paris?"
"Just getting settled into the job," he laughed. "It's going to be a challenge, but I'm ready for it. And hey, maybe we can start up our lunch tradition again like we did in school."
Jordan chuckled, remembering the countless times they had taken study breaks together. "I'd like that."
The lunch was lighthearted and fun, filled with laughter and stories about their past, as well as excitement for the future. They spoke about their career aspirations, shared tips on managing the workload at the firm, and discussed plans for upcoming cases. The banter flowed easily, and for a moment, it felt like they were back in law school, two friends navigating the challenges of their careers together.
As they finished their meal, Jordan felt a deep sense of contentment. It was nice to have Michael at the firm, not just as a colleague but as a friend. She knew they would support each other in their new roles, just as they had during their days in school. But more importantly, she was confident in her boundaries, knowing that her future was firmly with Kylian.
Returning to the office, they parted ways to tackle the afternoon's workload, but Jordan couldn't shake the feeling that things were falling into place. With Michael as a colleague and her marriage to Kylian stronger than ever, she felt like she had found the perfect balance between her personal and professional life.
And as she sat at her desk, preparing for the next case, Jordan knew that this was just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her life.
Jordan arrived home after a long but productive day, still feeling the buzz from work. She found Kylian lounging on the couch, watching highlights from his recent game. His face lit up when he saw her walk through the door.
"Hey, beautiful. How was your day?" he asked, pulling her into a warm embrace as she sat beside him.
"Busy, but good," Jordan replied, snuggling into his chest. "We officially welcomed Michael to the firm today. He was super excited, and we ended up going to lunch together."
Kylian's expression shifted ever so slightly, his brow furrowing just a bit as he tried to hide it. "Oh, lunch, huh? You two catching up?" he asked, his tone casual but with a hint of something underneath.
Jordan noticed the subtle change in his demeanor and smiled knowingly. "Yeah, it was just a nice break. We talked about work and law school. Nothing more," she assured him, placing her hand on his chest.
Kylian chuckled, though his arms tightened a little around her. "I know, I know. It's just... you've been spending a lot of time with him lately."
"Are you jealous?" Jordan teased, nudging him lightly with her elbow.
Kylian raised an eyebrow, giving her a playful smirk. "Me? Jealous? Never," he said, though the slight possessiveness in his voice betrayed him.
Jordan laughed softly and kissed his lips . "You have nothing to worry about, Kylian. He's just a friend from school. You're the one I'm coming home to, always."
Kylian's face softened as he pulled her even closer, his lips brushing her forehead. "I know. But I guess I don't like the idea of anyone else spending that much time with you," he admitted, his voice gentle.
She smiled, appreciating his honesty. "Well, I love you. And Michael and I are just colleagues. You, on the other hand, are my life."
Kylian grinned, his jealousy melting away as he wrapped her in his arms. "I love you too. Just don't forget to remind me sometimes."
Jordan chuckled and kissed him, happy to see the tension lift.
