"You shouldn't worry this much. We're going to handle things. I'm not letting anyone hurt the rest of my pack".
The way he said it made me know that he was serious. Derek looked at me and began to walk a little bit closer to me. His presence never scared me. He felt like another older brother. Except, he never really annoyed me, only protected me.
"Up until a few nights ago, I didn't know that my little sister was alive. From the first time I saw you Emilia, I saw Cora in you. It was familiar to have someone to look after. You're going to be safe." Derek assured me.
"Yeah. I mean, I have you, Polo, Scott. It's just a lot. How do you stay so... calm?" I asked him.
He took a moment before responding. He would start to talk and then pause to think again.
"I'm not. But I'm an alpha now. So yours and Isaac's safety needs to be a priority. I can't assure you two if I don't come across as calm". He told me as he looked away.
"If you aren't, who's going to assure you?"
His face slowly turned towards me and then he looked up and our eyes met. He doesn't often let his raw emotions show. It was a weird, new thing.
"Don't you have school"?
"I have cross practice. Stiles made me join" I told Derek as I began to leave his loft.
••••
Two members of the alpha pack were in our class. On the cross team. Apparently the ones who went after Isaac weeks ago.
As soon as coach blew the whistle, Isaac ran after the two of them as fast as he could.
Scott and I took off behind them to make sure nothing got out of hand. Just as we caught up, I heard a girl scream.
A man was tied to a tree with the same injuries as the other bodies. I ran to find Stiles.
"Is that him?" Stiles asked Scott.
"Him? What him? Do you guys know-"
"He came into the vet last night to get his dog checked out. Right after he left, his dog started freaking out outside. I couldn't find him. Now, here he is" Scott told me as he interrupted me.
"Do you think he was also a virgin?" I asked.
"I don't know" Scott replied.
Sheriff Stilinski then arrived on scene in the woods pushing everyone out of the way, directing us to go back to the school.
"Did you see the way the twins looked at him?" I asked the three boys.
"Like they didn't know anything, huh?" Stiles asked.
"No, no, they knew." Isaac said.
"The kid was strangled with a garrote, all right? Alright, am I the only one recognizing the lack of 'werewolfititude' in these murders?" Stiles asked.
"No, I definitely think it's something, maybe even someone else" I said in agreement.
"What, you think it's a coincidence they showed up and then people start dying?" Isaac asked.
"Well, no, but I still don't think it's them" Stiles told him.
"Scott, what about you?" Isaac asked.
"I don't know yet".
"You don't know yet?" Stiles repeated.
"Well, he's got a point dude. I mean, human sacrifices"?
"Scott, your eyes turn into yellow glow sticks, okay? Hair literally grows from your cheeks and then will immediately disappear, and if I were to stab you right now, it would just magically heal, but you're telling me but you're telling me that you're having trouble grasping human sacrifices?" Stiles blurted.
