POV Zero

He felt woozy. Had Zero been hit on the head? His memory couldn't keep up. What had happened to him? He ran his hand over his face and grumbled to himself. The vigilante hated it when he didn't know what had happened to him as soon as he woke up. It frightened him.

Something on his wrist caught his attention. Zero opened his eyes and saw a narrow silver bracelet he didn't recognize. Then he took in his surroundings. This was not his lair. It was far too bright and smelled of disinfectant. He was lying in a soft bed instead of on his old mattress on the floor.

Someone cleared their throat. He was not alone. His gaze flitted to the sound. Eraserhead was sitting in front of the bed. Nezu was peeking out of his scarf and further in the back of the spacious room was someone else, an old woman with a syringe in her hair ... Recovery Girl?

Then the memories came flooding back. Hawks and some UA heroes had ambushed him. They had wanted him to come with them to the hero school. Midnight had used her quirk against him and now he was here.

Where was here exactly? Probably the UA campus, considering Nezu and Recovery Girl were present.

"Zero?" Eraserhead hadn't taken his eyes off him.

The teenager looked up. Their eyes met for a brief moment. Then Zero used his quirk. He had to escape as quickly as possible. The underground hero's gaze remained fixed on him. "Listen to us, please."

His quirk wasn't working. It was obvious that Eraser wasn't deleting it.

The bracelet!

Zero raised his hand and searched for the clasp. There was nothing to be found. How could he get rid of it? The bracelet looked continuous. Where was the beginning? His heart was racing and his breathing was getting faster and faster. The bracelet was loose, but he couldn't get it off either. Maybe if he broke his thumb? He reached for his thumb ready to do it, but before he could do anything, a large hand placed itself over both of his hands and squeezed lightly. "Zero!"

Eraser's eyes widened in shock. "Don't do that. You're not in any danger. I swear to you." His tone was sincere, if not concerned - Zero had to give him that. Nevertheless, the vigilante had his doubts.

He removed his hands from the hero and pushed himself away from him until his back hit the wall behind the bed. To hide himself at least a little, he fanned out his wings and wrapped them around his body. He pulled his legs up and crossed his arms over his knees. He laid his head down on them and made himself as small as possible.

With his eyes closed, Zero tried to calm down and organize his thoughts. So far, he had neither been tied up nor locked up. So there was a chance of escape.

He could no longer see the other people in the room, but his sensitive hearing helped him to locate their position. So far, none of them had moved.

There was a muffled sound and the mattress swayed slightly. "Hello Zero, it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person." He had never heard that voice before. It had to be Nezu. The vigilante was less afraid of the chimera. They had something in common. They were both failed experiments.

He opened his wings a little and saw the creature standing on the mattress in front of him. As soon as their eyes met, Nezu smiled broadly. "I promised you a laptop and you shall have it."

Zero tilted his head questioningly. Yes, that was how the heroes had been able to catch him, because he had wanted to pick up his package. How did the principal of UA know about this? The chimera's eyes flashed. "After all, I'm already looking forward to your next essay. I always particularly enjoy reading your assignments."
