Diana and Sensei Garmadon exchanged a look with one another as they heard what sounded like a giant garage door opening, followed by the garbage truck they were currently hiding in the back of, beginning to slow down. Once the truck came to a stop, lurching a bit as it did so, the back door of the compartment they were in slowly lowered until the front of it was touching the ground. Creating a makeshift ramp for them to walk down. As the Purple Ninja and Sensei Garmadon made their way down the ramp.
"What is this place?" Diana finally questioned aloud as the large metal roller garage door closed once the Samurai X mech had stepped inside. The boom of the door closing echoing throughout the strange warehouse building they seemed to be taking shelter in.
"I call it the rest of the Resistance." Skylor chimed in, a smile on her face as she walked over to the trio, away from the driver's side of the garbage truck.
Sensei Garmadon looked over to the Master of Magic beside him, and flashed her a smile and in which she returned. It was nice to know that they were not the only ones looking to stand up against Lord Garmadon.
"First things first though, introductions," continued Skylor, regaining the duo's attention. "You've already met Karlof, Griffin, and Shade. The Elemental Masters of Metal, Speed, and Shadow, respectively."
"Karlof always enjoys getting to see his colorful Ninja friend!" Karlof said happily, his thick accent and beaming smile causing the Ninja to smile as well.
"We're happy to see you again too Karlof," Diana replied with a genuine tone of joy.
"Next is Tox, Master of Poison." Skylor gestured to the girl with the light green hair smiled at the duo and waved at them near one of the Mech suits. "And then there's Neuro, Master of the Mind. I know you two have already met, Sensei Garmadon." Skylor gestured over to the familiar man who was approaching from wherever he had been waiting.
"Neuro, it's nice to meet you." Diana smiled as she shook the older man's hand.
"It's nice to meet you again too, Purple Ninja." Neuro smiled back. As the two ended their handshake, Neuro looked over at Sensei Garmadon and shook hands with him.
"Don't forget Mr. Pale! He is around here somewhere!" Karlof reminded the other members of the Resistance.
Suddenly, an outfit of what looked to be rather dapper floating clothes appeared right beside Diana, nearly scaring the Purple Ninja half to death and causing her to cried out in fright.
"Ahh, there you are Pale." Neuro smiled at the invisible man.
"I have a habit of sneaking up on people. My apologies." Mr. Pale apologized with his rather nasally sounding voice as the shades he was wearing looked over at the newest Ninja beside him.
"It's okay." Diana's voice is filled with friendliness as she could muster while trying to calm her racing heart.
"Then, there's Ash, Master of Smoke." Skylor gestured to a guy with spiky gray hair and dressed in gray. "Chamille, Master of Form." Standing to Ash was a pretty, purple-haired lady. "Gravis, Master of Gravity." A guy with a red turban and clothes. "And lastly, Obscuria, Master of Shadow and little sister to Shade." The little girl resembles Shade and she hid behind her older brother, looking very shy.
"Hi." Diana smiled at them.
"It's nice to see you all again," said Sensei Garmadon. "But where's Bolobo and Jacob?"
"The two of them both have been captured during Ultra Hunt," Skylor admitted.
"But she managed to rescue us all in the nick of time," spoke up Shade. "And told us what happened here."
"But the rest of our families have been captured too," admitted Griffin sadly.
"Ahh, looks like we find some more allies." The members of the Resistance turned to see Mystake watching them with a knowing smile from the top of the staircase. Both Sensei Garmadon and Diana smiled at her, the two of them both knew her from visiting her tea shop as well as a few other things. "I think a couple others will be happy to see you two again."
At that moment, Lloyd and Nya walked out of Mystake's room and followed everyone's gaze to see Diana in the center of the room while Sensei Garmadon kept himself hidden, wanting to give the two of them their reunion with his second student.
"Hey guys." Diana greeted them with a smile.
"Diana!" At that, Nya ran down the stairs and jumped into Diana's arms, hugging her best friend tightly and the Master of Magic returned the embrace.
"Diana." They both turned to see Lloyd walking towards them, a relieved and regretful look in his warm brown eyes. They both broke their hug as the Green Ninja joined them. Lloyd wrapped his arms around Diana and squeezed her tightly. She shut her eyes and let her whole body relax into the embrace. Lloyd felt Diana's arms wrap around him. A warm tear streaked down from his eyes while Diana let out a soft sigh in the hug. "I-I'm so glad you're safe."
Diana pulled herself out of the embrace, taking in Lloyd's relieved expression. "You and me both. But I'm not the only one who's here." She looked towards the shadowy corner. "You can come out now ya scaredy cat!"
That's when Sensei Garmadon had stepped into the light.
Lloyd turned to look at him so quickly that for a second the Sensei feared he got whiplash. There was a moment of silence as vibrant brown eyes meet weary brown. "FATHER!" Lloyd collapsed into his arms for the first time in years. His body shook from sobs, but he didn't care about that at all. "I've missed you..."
"As have I. You have suffered too much... I never wished to leave you so early. But I'm here now... I shall never leave again..." Sensei Garmadon gently rubbed circles on Lloyd's back.
Lloyd smiled softly. "I'm glad you're here..."
Everyone watched as Lloyd snuggled into his father's embrace. Shade and Ash had smiles on their faces, Nya, Chamille, and Tox were cooing, and Mr. Pale was trying to wipe his tears with a handkerchief. Diana smiled softly at the sight, she was aware of Lloyd's stories regarding his father and felt empathetic towards him. Obscuria smiled softly at the family reunion, while valiantly ignoring the longing in her heart. Mystake and Gravis both smiled warmly at the sight in front of them. The father and his son, however, seemed to remain oblivious to this.
Lloyd let out a soft sigh. "Our time together was so short..."
Sensei Garmadon embraced him. "I'm here for you, Lloyd."
"I know..." Lloyd replied in a murmur.
"Don't worry... Don't worry..." Sensei Garmadon consoled.
Lloyd cried out, his voice cracking slightly. "N-Never let me go... Please."
Sensei Garmadon sighed, stroking his hair. "It will be alright... I'll always be here for you."
Lloyd looked up at Sensei Garmadon longingly. "Father..."
"Yes, Lloyd?" Sensei Garmadon gently stroked his hair.
"I'm so grateful to have you as a part of my life..." whispered Lloyd.
Sensei Garmadon beamed. "I am the grateful one." He put his hands on Lloyd's shoulders. "To have you as my son."
Lloyd relaxed in his father's hold. "I love you..."
"I love you too, Lloyd... You were always so sensitive..." Sensei Garmadon spoke with gentle warmth.
Lloyd tensed. "I'm scared... I don't want you to leave..."
"I won't leave you," Sensei Garmadon promised. "Not this time. Not for anything."
Lloyd began crying, as did Sensei Garmadon. They were both so relieved to be back with each other once again. Both of them could hardly believe it. The others continued to watch in warm admiration as the scene played out before them.
"Garmadon?" Sensei Garmadon looked up from his son to his wife. Misako looked as beautiful as she did the last time he had seen her.
"Misako..." Sensei Garmadon whispered.
"Hello, Garmadon," replied Misako, her hazel eyes shining with unshed tears. She pressed her forehead against Garmadon's head and Lloyd snuggled within his family's embrace.
By dinner hours, the Elemental Resistance were talking while others were eating Skylor's well-baker noodles at the table.
"Sensei Garmadon, if you don't mind me asking... How are you even here?" Neuro asked. "We were basically told that the Oni Masks would only bring back Lord Garmadon, not Lord and Sensei Garmadon as two different individuals."
"Plus, the cult that brought you back, the Sons of Garmadon, were very explicit in bringing back old Lordie," added Ash.
"I'm not sure," Sensei Garmadon admitted. "I only remember a light."
Everyone went silent until Lloyd spoke up thoughtfully. "I have a theory. The Dragon and the Oni basically represent good and evil, right? And they are sometimes associated with creation and destruction. I hate to admit that even the Overlord was right, but where there's light, there's dark. It doesn't matter how small or big, there is a balance at the end. Maybe the reason why we have two Garmadons is because even though the Oni masks are evil, the Sons of Garmadon used my DNA, which contains both Oni and Dragon blood, which must have caused the masks to bring back an Oni Garmadon and a Dragon Garmadon."
"It's mostly a correct guess," Sensei Garmadon said, impressed. "But I think that I still have that Oni blood on me, son."
"How can you be sure?" Nya asked.
"I got to the city while using Spinjitzu, and to use Spinjitzu I need to be aware of my element, just like the rest of you," Sensei Garmadon raised his hands and made some light purple sparks appear, causing the young adults in the room to gasp.
"The Element of Destruction..." Lloyd whispered, his eyes widened.
"Yes," Sensei Garmadon confirmed with a slight smile before becoming serious once again. "I know what the general thought is regarding my element. But without it, you wouldn't have creation."
"Sometimes, in order to create, you must destroy," Diana admitted. "It has happened before within Ninjago's history."
Sensei Garmadon nodded to her as he turned to look at Lloyd. "Exactly. Having both Oni and Dragon in me, in us, is proof that there's balance inside. A whole Dragon me would have been too focused in trying to create an alternative way to counter Oni me."
"He's quite right," admitted Diana. "My Elemental Power of Magic is the light to Clouse's darkness of Dark Arts." She made quick eye contact with both Sensei Garmadon and Mystake, they both nodded their respective and silent encouragements.
Diana's hand glowed bright purple, revealing the smoky screen to show a dragon to play it out for her like a puppet. "Long ago, a great dragon had found itself in Ninjago after it came straight from the First Realm of Oni and Dragon. This dragon possessed a special power, the Element of Magic. This element gave the owner the ability to perform magic spells and opening portals to different realms. The dragon came to Ninjago since the other dragons of the First Realm shamed it for its abilites. Magic is considered very dangerous and dark to them, so the dragon was chased away."
"That's horrible!" exclaimed Obscuria, but Shade gently hushed her.
"After this dragon has arrived to Ninjago, the dragon explored the Realm of Ninjago for many days. One day, the dragon had found a human village, it decided to go to the village to see if humans were kind creatures. But when the dragon came to the village, humans began to panic and started hunting the dragon and managed to wounded it."
"Those good for nothing—!" Nya started letting out a steam of angry grumbling and cursing.
"The wounded dragon fleed and hid itself in a barn, falling sleep into a huge pile of hay. When the farmer walked in to the barn, he didin't see the dragon. But when he did see it, he went inside his cottage and told his wife. The wife saw that the dragon was hurt, so she used medical supplies for their farm animals and started treating the sleeping dragon with her husband's help. The dragon woke up when it feelt something touching its wounds. When it opend its eyes, it saw the woman treating it. The dragon lightly touched the woman with its snout. When the woman noticed the dragon was awake, she gently patted the dragon. After the dragon recovered, it stayed with the couple for some time."
"Wow, looks like the dragon cared about them," admitted Ash.
"One day, the woman had gave birth to a baby, the baby was weak and the couple feard it would not survive. Knowing this, the dragon gently placed its snout onto the baby's forehead. The worried couple trusted the dragon to not harm their baby, but they were curious to what the dragon were doing. Suddenly, the dragon started glowing a soft silvery and purple color. After a couple seconds, the dragon has turned itself into stardust and it went into the baby's heart. After the stardust had entered the couple's baby, the baby started crying for the first time."
"The dragon gave up its own life to help start a new life," whispered Lloyd.
Diana nodded with a sad smile and made the smoke disappear with a wave of her hand. "I'm afraid so."
"Wait a minute, you said that it was an old family legend," Nya said. "That means you're the descendant of the Magic Dragon."
"Sort of." Diana smiled softly. "Thanks to the Magic Dragon's sacrifice, she has given one of my ancestors to be partially Dragon and partially Human." Her eyes glowed with a magically silver light. "Nobody's truly perfect nor completely evil. It depends on what type of being they wish to become."
