Diana noticed that Nya was gazing at a picture of both her and Jay with warm and yet worried smile. "You two look so cute together." She leaned casually against the wall with a weary smile.
"Thank you." Nya started cleaning up their mess and moving it into the cardboard box on the tabletop beside them.
After a brief moment of silence the Master of Water decided now was the perfect time to ask her fellow female Ninja an important question she had yet to bring up. "Hey Diana, is it okay if I ask you something?"
Diana paused her cleaning as she looked over to friend. "Sure. What's up?"
"Okay, so, this is kind of random." Nya smiled at Diana. "I was wondering though, is there anyone special you were hoping to meet up with?"
"Maybe with Sensei Garmadon," admitted Diana. "He's going to help me clear my mind."
"Not like that silly." Nya laughed a bit as she smiled at her friend's oblivious nature.
"Oh, like what then?" The Purple Ninja asked, one of her eyebrows raised in confusion.
"Someone special, y'know?" Nya then gestured her head towards the picture of herself and the Blue Ninja.
Two and two finally connected in Diana's head though, and she now understood what the other girl beside her was asking. "Oh."
"Sooo?" Nya questioned, nudging the other girl as she shot her a teasing smirk.
Diana could feel her cheeks beginning to heat up, and quickly looked down at the mess that was still present on the table.
"I—I don't know what you're talking about." Diana tried to make up excuses in her mind. However, the blonde girl knew that her friend was too smart for that, and had undoubtedly already pieced together that she had feelings for someone.
"Yeah right, spill!" Nya said excitedly as she moved closer to her friend, making it harder for the Purple Ninja to squirm out of the situation.
"Nope!" Diana squeaked, as she tried to run away from her sorrow and embarrassment. Nya placed her hands onto the girl's shoulders and due to her stronger build, foiled Diana's escape attempt.
"Is it Zane?" Nya began guessing, and Diana shook her head furiously.
"Nope! I'm not answering this!" Diana tried again to get out of her friend's grasp by ducking under the Teal Ninja's arm, but sadly failed as Nya spun her back around. But out of sheer luck, Diana had managed to slip out of Nya's grip and stepped back warily as Nya stepped towards her.
"Kai? Is it Kai?" Nya continued, and Diana rolled her eyes, biting the inside of her cheek as she did so in an effort to put on her best poker face. Seeing she wasn't getting her desired reaction, the Water Ninja moved down the list of possible suitors.
"What about Cole?" Nya asked.
Diana huffed angrily and glared at her, which caused Nya to recoil slightly from her. Nya could see her friend's frustrated anger due to her raging feelings, but she's struggling to hide her emotions. Something in her heart, she was hurting from the inside out and she's trying to hide her heartbroken feelings while working with the Resistance.
"Lloyd?" asked Nya quietly.
Diana could feel her face grow even warmer, and struggled to hide her embarrassed and yet heartbroken expression when Nya said the Green Ninja's name. Although her friend did her best to hide her involuntary reaction the Teal Ninja noticed, Nya gasped as she saw she had a winner. But Nya soon realized that her friend avoided Lloyd and Harumi when they were in the same room on purpose. This whole time, Diana's heart was hurting and Nya hadn't seen her best friend's pain till now.
"You have a crush on Lloyd," whispered Nya.
Diana sighed wearily, but she nodded her confirmation. "Yes. I do." She fixed a glare on Nya. "Happy?" The Teal Ninja looked down sadly. "I saw how happy Lloyd was with Harumi, so I ignored my feelings towards him. But after what happened, I'm not going to tell him. I don't want to ruin our friendship. Besides, I don't even know if he feels the same way."
Nya smiled sadly to herself, already knowing that Lloyd liked Diana back. However, knowing it was not her place to tell, Nya wants to be as supportive as possible. "Lloyd is one of the kindest person that I have ever met. It's not like him to cut others off."
She raised an eyebrow at that, clearly remembering what happened. "I'm not too sure about that." Nya flinched as she remembered what happened too. "Tell him I'm going on patrol."Diana made it over to the west side on one of the neighboring rooftops, stopping just a few yards from the edge, but she wasn't concerned about that. She was too busy gazing out on the horizon far ahead, where the sun was beginning to set. All around her, the sky was painted with beautiful warm colors, the clouds turning a bluish purple in contrast. Not taking her eyes off the breathtaking sight, she lowered herself into a sitting position, getting comfortable. She sighed softly, letting a wave of calm wash over her, as well as the last warmth of the sun's rays before they would eventually plunge into night, getting herself lost in her thoughts while absentmindedly humming to herself.
She had lost track of the amount of time she sat there alone in the peacefulness, but after a while, a noise from behind her took her out of her thoughts. She turned her head, peering over her shoulder at the shadows curiously. She relaxed when she saw the familiar green of Lloyd, she relaxed, turning her gaze back to the horizon as he walked towards her.
"I figured I'd find you up here." Lloyd smiled at her warmly.
"You know me too well, Lloyd." Diana shook her head before sighing softly. "Sunsets in the city are positively gorgeous, aren't they?"
"They are beautiful, but... not as beautiful as you." Lloyd smirked at her playfully.
Diana blushed almost immediately. "T-Thanks."
"I think it's the other way around, Swift Foot." Diana chuckled before pausing and looked at him in confusion.
Lloyd fiddled with his hands nervously. "Well... umm..." He glanced downwards embarrassedly, making Diana frowned in concern. "I... umm, well, I don't know what I'd do without you, Diana."
Diana seemed genuinely shocked by his words. Didn't know what he'd do without her? Surely, she was dreaming... and yet... She slowly smiled. "I believe the feeling is mutual. I wouldn't know what to do without you, my dear friend."
Then, she did something that surprised even herself. Before she knew what was happening, her lips met his left cheek. Lloyd's eyes widened, but didn't move due to his amazed shock.
Diana realized what she had done and her eyes too widened. "I-I'm... I'm sorry." She placed a hand over heart and felt it hammering within her chest. She could barely understand her actions. She did care about Lloyd; that was no lie. He was so kind to her and helped her through so much... But what in the name of Ninjago caused her to kiss him?
What was this feeling?
Meanwhile, Lloyd sat there on the roof, shocked. A hand was placed over the spot where Diana kissed him as his mind raced to explain what had happened. Lloyd was stunned and could feel his heart going into an excited frenzy in his chest.
Lloyd looked like he wanted to say something, but he stopped himself. For a while neither of them spoke, nor did they move, they just stared at each other. Diana finally broke the silence by leaning against his side with a peaceful smile as she gazed at the sunset. Lloyd smiled softly at Diana and gently wrapped his arm around her waist. None of them moved as they both gazed at the sunset.
