Chapter 29: Timing everything right

"Lola! I just found out- WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING?!" Amber scowled, seeing my new pets. I could tell what she was thinking. She was probably curious, and jealous. "This is Tealinne, my Niffler. I changed my mind. They are SO CUTE! Newt gave me one. He also gave me my new necklace and bowtru- dragon egg."

"YOU GET A DRAGON?" Amber cried, her mouth dropping open. "Don't worry! You get one too!" I held out the green egg and Amber took it in surprise. "Dragon egg... woah..." She stared at it, then asked, "What type of dragons are they? And is mine more DANGEROUS than yours?!" She asked. "Well, mine is, actually. Mine is a Swedish short snout. Newt told me they were gorgeous. Yours is a Romanian Longhorn. He said they are pretty dangerous, but as much as mine. They are also quite beautiful, buuuuuut mine is prettier, says Newt."

"Awwwwww! What's the point of giving you a dangerous dragon when you're not encouraging it to kill things and stuff?" Amber huffed, patting the top of her green egg happily. "And I guess you're his favourite so he spoils you more than me."

"Hey, hey, hey! You get told forbidden secrets and I can't listen to them!" I pointed out. "I guess..." Amber sighed. "Aaaaaand, I'll be using her power for the war-"

"ARE THEY FEMALES?" She asked, her eyes brightening up. "Yes, both of them are-"

"EEEEEEEEE! I'VE NEVER GOTTEN ANYTHING FEMALE BEFORE! Well, except for my cat. BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT! I'mma call her Clover. She'd be green, right?"

"Yes, and mine will be silvery-whitish-blueish-pink. I know because Newt showed me a picture of a grown-up Swedish Short-snout. I'm going to call her Alaska."

"Cool name!" Amber smiled, obviously forgetting that my dragon was more dangerous than hers. "Where's Tina?" I asked, looking around. "With Dawn. And Newt?"

"He went off to see Harry. They're great friends and they'll be searching for one of his pets who escaped."

"What type of animal was it?"

"Ummm. I think it was a baby niffler-"

"BABY NIFFLER?! ARGH! THEY MUST BE SO CUTE!"

"They are!" I smiled. All of a sudden, Harry, Dawn, Newt and Tina came in and beckoned us over. "Newt's found the Niffler and now we need to speak to you. Amber, you go with Tina and Harry while Lola can go with me and Newt. We'll be talking about the war. Harry's seen visions and both our scars hurt a lot. The war will be coming at night. Tonight. We will be discussing techniques and places to hide and fight. We will show you the places and then I will assign spots and forces at Lunch and describe everything to everyone." Dawn beckoned me to Newt and herself and I walked away from Amber. "N-newt, I just realised, our dragons can't fight for battle yet because they're only babies" I shivered. Dawn and Newt smiled at me. "Don't worry. When your eggs hatch, which will be in a few minutes, Dawn and I will put a spell on it to make it grow bigger. And when the war is over, we can make her back to normal sized. Deal?" Newt grinned.

I nodded. "Okay. Deal."

"Now, I will show you and Newt the best places to attack. Come on Lola, we better hurry, the battle is at midnight and I don't want to lose this battle." Dawn grimaced and Newt and I followed her outside.

"Students of Hogwarts! It is the time to tell you some news about the dangerous coming event. A war is coming this midnight." Gasps and shocks were heard all around the hall and people clung to eachother. "I know you're all scared but we've got lots of defence all ready. We've got all your parents coming over this very moment to fight for the war, Newt and Tina Scamander's animals are ready for the war, everyone is trained and ready." Dawn's sharp eyes skimmed around the room. I wondered why, then realised she was looking for the Hogwarts traitors. As suspected, Lavender, Abbadon, Edward and Delphi weren't in the room. She nodded curtly and then waved her hand. The great doors opened and suddenly, lots of adults came in. "MOTHER! FATHER!" Everyone yelled once. They rushed toward their parents. "Lola! Amber! Where are you, my Sweeties?" Called Mother's voice from out of the crowd of adults.

My heart fluttered. "Mother! Go to Hufflepuff table!" I yelled. There were some bustling and then I saw my mother's curly hair waving around the far side of the table. "MOTHER!" I cried happily. Amber stood up and jumped onto the table. "MOTHER! You wouldn't BELIEVE ANYTHING that I will tell you!" Amber cried, her foot getting stuck in a teacup. Mother rushed over to us and called Father over. "RON! Come here at ONCE! Your daughters are here and you need to EMBRACE them!" Mother explained. She got over to us and I leapt onto my mother. "Mother, Mother! I missed you so much!" I cried. Mother wrapped her arms around me, stroking my hair and kissing my forehead. "Oh, Lola! I missed you too-"

Suddenly, Amber jumped down off the table and squeezed Mother's stomach. "MOTHER! I have so much to TELL YOU!" She cried, looking up at our mother. She laughed. All three of us were on the floor and we got up, all laughing. "Where's father?" I asked. Mother rolled her eyes. "RONALD WEASLEY!" She yelled over the crowd. A red-haired man lumbered up to us and smiled. "Lola! Amber! How've you been?" Asked Father. "Perfectly WONDERFUL! Well, sort of" I replied. Father laughed. "Parents and Students! It is so wonderful to see you all again." Dawn eyed a tall blonde blonde-haired man suspiciously. He looked a lot like Draco Junior. "But we've got important things to discuss." Dawn frowned. Then she started on places to hide and places to attack. "Then if you're hurt and strong enough to walk, find Professor Emily, our Nurse. Emily, stand up."

The nurse stood up and smiled at everyone then sat down again. "I'm so proud to see all my friends up there. Especially Dawn. We were practically sisters anyway. We grew up together."

"SO THATS WHY DAWN LIKES US MORE THAN ANYONE IN THIS WHOLE SCHOOL!" Amber whispered. I rolled my eyes. "Idiot."

"Then Professor Emily will take you somewhere safe and try and help you. Fawn, my Owl, will be a messenger. Tell her what you need to know and she will tell Professor Emily and me." After Dawn explained everything, we had Dinner and everyone went with their parents to their houses. As Amber, my friends and I got into bed, Mother said goodnight to us and left the room. "Are you scared for the fight?" I asked Leah from across my bed. She nodded. "Are you?" I asked Jade. "Wouldn't doubt it for a second." Jade shivered. "Midnight, wouldn't that be scary."

Shutting down my thoughts and saying goodnight to my friends, I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

"LOLA, AMBER, JADE, LEAH, EMILY, ALANA! GET UP! IT'S ALMOST MIDNIGHT!" Cried a loud voice near my ear. We all jumped out of bed and got changed in the dark, putting wands in our pockets and calling our pets to help us. We scrambled out of the room and ran out with Dawn and the others like Newt and Mother. There was a great havoc among the castle but everything was to be done in darkness and silence. Everyone got into their positions and held their wands in their hands, their protective pets right beside them. I gasped when Newt came up to me and Amber at the entrance of the castle with two towering dragons. "This is Alaska and here is Clover. They obey your every command and you hide them beside you." Newt smiled and crawled in beside me. The dragons hid under the hill and then everything went quiet. We were all in our positions and ready for the war. Suddenly, there was a hoot of an owl. That's not an owl! I thought and saw a dark shape appear on the hillside. Suddenly, more dark shapes appeared... EVERYWHERE.

There was a loud bang, the signal Dawn let off for everyone to start attacking. Then the enemies charged forward, realising that they weren't the only ones outside. Alaska roared and set out a large strike of blue fire across the dark shapes. Everything lit up. The enemies screamed. The battle had begun.
