Travis' POV
"Sir?" A timid voice asked, and I looked over from where I was conversing with a few important associates to see one of my staff members cowering in the doorway.
"Yes?" I murmured, used to the look of unease on his face. The back rooms of the casino were for a select few I deemed important enough, and the place was full of a smoky haze, the smell of drink, a few waitresses flirting with the customers. It wasn't exactly legal, not with the pills being passed around.
"Umm..." The young man shuffled his feet. "Medusa's here, and...and she wants to see you."
"Who the fuck is....oh." I frowned, pissed when my brain caught up and I realized who he was talking about. Alison fucking Kingsley. What the hell did she think she was doing sauntering into my casino and demanding my presence? I knew she thought she was taking over, but I wasn't going to go easy on her. "You can tell her I'll be there when I deem her presence more interesting than this shitshow."
"Well..." He fidgeted again. "She told me that if I came back without you, she'd have a lot of fun turning me into something that hangs on a wall."
Of course she did. With a sigh, I excused myself from the men I was talking to and moved over towards the door. I didn't know if Alison was stupid enough to make good on her threat, but for the sake of my staff member not wetting his pants, I wasn't going to attempt to find out. I got the sense that whatever Medusa wanted, Medusa got, and she was always used to getting her way or fighting to the bone for it.
I saw her before she saw me, sitting at the highest end table we had in the whole casino. It had a minimum buy in of fifty thousand dollars. Alison was seated in the middle, both chairs next to her empty, the other two chairs filled by two men who were shooting nervous looks at the redhead. She pretended not to notice that a lot of people in her vicinity were trying to make it look like they weren't starting, a glass in one of her gloved hands, stacks of chips on the table in front of her.
"Medusa." I murmured when I stopped just behind her. The hand that wasn't holding her glass rose, one finger indicating for me to wait without the woman ever looking back at me. I gave a small laugh of disbelief at being ordered around in my own casino, watching as she reached forwards and tapped for another card.
"Blackjack." The dealer announced, a slight tremor to her voice, and Alison placed her hand back into her lap. Then she turned her head to the side, face obscured by a veil like it always was.
"Only people who fear me call me by that name." She purred, and one of the men at the table with her jumped up and scurried away without a moment of hesitation. "Do you fear me Travis Kelce?"
"I think you're annoying and too much power's gone to your head." I told her, earning a dark little chuckle that stirred something deep inside me.
"Oh little boy." Alison tutted, turning back to the table as she was dealt another round of cards. "Weak insults won't work. Please." She gestured to the seat next to her. "Indulge me."
Ordering me around like she thought she ran this city. Over my dead body, which it might come to if she was that determined. I'd battle this woman with everything I had, but for now, I took the seat she wanted me to take, knowing my curiosity about her visit was going to overcome my reluctance at doing what she asked. Maybe if I kept her happy, she wouldn't murder any of my staff, but we'd see.
"Racking up quite the winnings there." I commented.
"Money means nothing." Alison shrugged. "It's just fun to rob you blind." I chuckled.
