𝗠ili's initial assumptions were proven wrong in a split second.

Earlier, she assumed that Jessica might face Daniel's wrath because of her carelessness, but the way a pleasant smile was lingering on Jessica's face said otherwise. Across Daniel's desk, she comfortably sat there with a cup of chamomile tea in her hands. No sign of argument travelled in the room's air. Rather, Daniel had his attention on Jessica, for what reason Mili could not comprehend.

Her concern momentarily shifted to the unexpected setup in her front but she quickly regained it.

"I - I mean they are taking her somewhere. Help her. Please," Mili exhorted in her urging voice towards Daniel. The first time it was that she came to him and talked about something on her own.

"What happened?" Not reciprocating to her urgency, Daniel questioned coldly. He was oddly indifferent towards her on today's morning. Yesterday's events made something between them even more deviant: deviant in urges, deviant in behaviour.

Mili took a deep breath before answering, "I kept Willa with me be-because I was scared to sleep alone. They are punishing her for that." Her husband is the only person she can complain to and look up to. Hoping he would understand her desperation and save her only friend from the misery, Mili said.

That did mean Daniel does not share the same room with his wife - a crafty satisfaction rose in Jessica's chest.

"Who's Willa again?" Miliani's urging gaze towards Daniel, diverted towards Jessica as she questioned the unsettled girl in her sharp tone.

"My friend," Mili softly yet determinedly replied.

Jessica could not help but let out a scoff and then, cross-questioned, "A maid?"

Mili could not find the appropriate words to answer Jessica. She was just hoping for Daniel to take immediate action towards her request, but she knew Daniel was more than just displeased with her for some reason. Looking down, Mili fidgeted with the hem of her dress under Jessica's hard questioning eyes.

"Miliani.. why would you indulge yourself with a random maid at the very first place? And, you should not even care enough to remember her name, let alone waste Don's time for something this inessential. A rule is a rule of the Romanos empire - remember that. Always," Jessica's advice felt heavy on Mili's shoulder. If she claims to be Miliani's friend, she should have spoken in favour of Miliani before Daniel, but why the Romanos were so strict with their rules and regulations was not understandable to Mili.
