After the dinner was over, every guest left, except for the newlyweds, Alaric and Jessica. Being one of Daniel's friends, Daniel took Alaric to his office to have their private talk. Whereas Mili was still sickening a bit for Tulip, the things Tulip demanded and asked were constantly running in her mind.
Eventually, Mili had to confront Jessica again in the drawing room before she could ask one of the housekeepers to arrange a bunch of pregnancy test kits to help Tulip.
"Well ... well. Look at you, Miliani!," Jessica's voice bombarded from Mili's behind just when the anxious girl shot her eyes on the huge antique wall clock. She fidgeted with her fingers, taking note of the time; it was already too late, which meant she would have to wait till tomorrow morning to bring the needed item.
"Ignoring me already, Mrs Knight?" Jessica, in a slightly mocking tone, questioned again.
Mili turned to her, arching her brows a little until the foreign name Jessica used to address her seeped into her senses. Nobody had ever called her like that.
"No. I am not. Not ignoring you," she naively responded, not sure how to react to Jessica's sudden hostility.
Jessica's eyes swept over Mili from top to bottom with a bitter slyness in her expressions and then, she let out a small ignorant laugh.
"So, finally, the 'I don't know anything' Miliani is bossing around the house," Jessica exclaimed placing her hand on Mili's shoulder, making her uneasy with what she said. "You know what, Miliani?" She asked, looking at her face and then continued, "We should be close friends just like our husbands."
Mili slightly shrugged her shoulder instinctively to drop Jessica's hand away. She did not like the idea of being close friends with Jessica, especially after what Jess sharply worded to her back on the wedding day and, more importantly, how Jess had always behaved around Daniel. Even without fully realising the reason why that affected her heart so damn badly, the thought of Jessica being that close to Daniel made something bitter rise inside Mili.
Jessica was already enraged with Daniel for getting her tied to a man like Alaric who was almost impossible for her to manipulate. On top of that, just how Mili treated her offer made Jessica internally murder the girl twice.
