Evie looked to Walter giving him an appreciative smile. "Thank you so much for finding my friend. I have been so worried about her all day. I hope that you don't mind me asking this, but where did you manage to find her?"
"I accidentally bumped into this beauty while she was wondering the halls. I asked if she was lost, and she said yes. So, I ended up helping her find her way here. Here we are now," Walter explained.
"Thank you for finding my friend for me," Evie said before turning her attention to her friend, as Walter walked away from the two for a moment. "Are you alright? I was so worried about you."
"Evie, I'm fine. I was resting for a bit. I underestimated the jetlag. As you can see, I'm not hurt. I was only in my room. There is no reason to freak out," Nicolette said before suddenly changing the subject. "How did things go with meeting your family?"
"It was alright. A lot of talk about family business and all of their accomplishments. They only really seemed to care about showing off, and talking about the wedding that will be taking place after dinner tomorrow night. Though I do find it quite odd that the names of both the bride and groom are being kept secret. Don't you find that to be a bit odd," Evie asked.
"I'm sorry about your family being lame," Nicolette said trying to get Evie to smile.
"Not your fault," Evie replied.
"As for wanting to know who the bride and groom are, we have to be patient. Maybe the bride and groom want to remain anonymous for now, that way everyone gathered here can enjoy the celebrations, taking place right now," Nicolette suggested.
Evie shrugged at what Nicolette said. "Maybe. Maybe you're right. I shouldn't be too focusing on wondering where the bride and groom are. I should be letting loose and having a bit of fun."
"But be cautious all while doing so. I don't want to see anything bad happening to you," Nicolette warned.
"I promise you nothing bad will happen to me. Just try to ease up a bit and have some fun. Who knows, maybe hook up with someone that way we have stories to exchange and share with Grace when we return back to our cozy little apartment in America,' Evie said while Walter made his way back over to Evie and Nicolette.
"Sorry to come over and disrupt your conversation. I was wondering if either of you ladies would like to dance," Walter asked looking between Evie and Nicolette.
Before Evie had the chance to answer, Nicolette was quick to respond. "Evie would love to take the time to dance with you."
Evie turned to give Nicolette a stern look. "Really Nico? I doubt that Walter would want to dance with me."
"I honestly don't mind. But the next dance will be Nicolette and I. So, don't go walking off, because I look forward to our dance, Nicolette," Walter said while glaring at her for throwing Evie at him.
Walter then grabbed hold of Evie's hand, leading her over to the dance floor and began dancing with her. Nicolette stood there watching as Walter and Evie danced together, letting out a sigh of relief that she managed to get herself out of that situation, even if it was temporary.
Nicolette was so distracted by the scene taking place in front of her, that she didn't notice a woman approaching her.
The woman who made her way over to the young woman, stopped short at the sight before her. No. There is no way in hell that Colette is standing in front of me right now. She should be dead by now. I will have to make my way over to there and see if that is the very woman, who I had called my friend way back when, when I was alive, Viktoria thought to herself before she proceeded to make her way over to Nicolette.
"Colette," Viktoria said loud enough to catch Nicolette's attention. Nicolette turned to Viktoria with a confused look on her face.
"Do I know you," Nicolette asked while looking Viktoria in the eye.
"I'm hurt that you don't remember your old friend from back in the day. We used to go to the markets together all the time," Viktoria said. "How can you not remember me? It's me, Viktoria Klopstock."
Nicolette shook her head at the woman standing in front of her. "I don't know any Viktoria Klopstock. And my name isn't Colette. I'm Nicolette. Or if you want, you can call me Nico for short."
"Sorry. I thought you were a long-lost friend of mine, who I haven't seen in quite a long time," Viktoria explained.
"I'm sorry to hear that. But I am not the woman that you're looking for. Now if you will excuse me, I have somewhere else to be," Nicolette said before walking away from Viktoria, leaving her standing there shocked at the way Nicolette spoke to her.
How dare that little brat speak to me like that. Though one thing is for sure, she's definitely nothing like my dear friend Colette, Viktoria thought to herself, while watching Nicolette walk away.
The whole Viktoria was talking with Nicolette, Water was keeping an eye on them as he danced with Evie.
Evie noticed that Walter was watching the whole encounter between the two women and grew kind of concerned. "Is everything alright," Evie asked.
Walter's attention was snapped back to Evie, who he noticed had a concerned look on her face. Walter gave Evie a smile before responding. "Everything is fine. I just happened to notice one of the guests, approaching your friend. I wanted to be sure that your friend was alright."
Evie glanced over to where Viktoria was standing, noticing that Nicolette was no longer standing there. Evie pulled away from Walter, making her way over to the woman, who was standing there. "Excuse me ma'am. Where is my friend, Nicolette?"
"Hmph, you act like I know where your little friend wandered off to. Maybe your little friend is wandering around, mingling with the other guests here. Who knows maybe she's trying to make some new friends, so she's not left alone standing awkwardly, as you go and dance with a man," Viktoria said.
"Don't show any disrespect to Ms. Evelyn Alexander. She's as much of a guest here as you are, Ms. Klopstock. Should I find out that you are continuing to be rude towards Ms. Evelyn or her friend, I will personally see to it that you are escorted off the property, and won't be welcomed back here ever again. Are we clear," Walter asked
"Crystal clear," Viktoria replied.
Walter then turned his attention to Evie. "Thank you for the dance. I'm sorry that Ms. Klopstock here has shown you any disrespect. "
"It's alright. I just thought she would be helpful and help me find my friend is all," Evie said.
"I'm sure your friend is around here somewhere. If you will excuse me, I have something that needs my attention," Walter said before walking away.
Viktoria watched as Walter walked away, waiting until he was out of ear shot before, she spoke up again. "I will never understand what he cares about a little brat walking away. It's not like she has any purpose to be here with us, celebrating anyway."
"That 'brat' as you called her is my friend. She came here to support me, while I meet my father's side of the family, whom I didn't know a damn thing about until recently," Evie snapped at Viktoria.
Viktoria gave Evie a repulsed look. "I would rather deal with the other one than deal with you right now. At least the other girl knew how to have some manners, while talking to someone who is important."
This caused Evie to laugh at what Viktoria said to her. "I'm only speaking to you the way that I am, because you are the one who is being disrespectful towards my friend. I won't tolerate that, nor will I tolerate you being rude towards me." Evie then turned on her heel walking away from Viktoria, leaving her there shocked.
Nicolette was making her way back to the house, but was stopped by Walter running up behind her, grabbing hold of her arm in a tight grip. Nicolette turned to look at Walter, glaring at him for grabbing her arm the way that he had. "Leave me alone, Walter. Go back and speak with your rude guest.""I already dealt with Viktoria, putting her in her place, after I saw how she treated you. Now be a good girl and show your master some respect," Walter said.
"You aren't my master. You are a monster who is holding me captive," Nicolette said.
