"You're already planning my daughter's death the very night that she agrees to marry you," Lucia said. "So, what more can you do to me to torture me, or put me through hell?"
"You believe that your daughter is going to die the night of our wedding? Oh, you silly woman. Your daughter isn't going to die. She's going to gain a very special gift that she and I will share together. You should feel honored that your daughter is gaining such a gift. Do you want your daughter to grow old and die," Walter asked.
"It would be better than what you are planning on putting my daughter through," Lucia said.
"Well then, I guess it's a good thing that you don't get any say in this now. If you had your way, you would find a way to mess it all up for me. I can't have you doing that," Walter said.
"You say that I would mess it up for you. I call it doing all that I can to be assured that you never lay a hand on my daughter's head. Now if you will excuse me, I no longer wish to be in the study," Lucia said before walking around Walter, opening the door and walking out of the study with Walter watching her.
I won't allow this woman to come between myself and the little beautiful bride, Walter thought to himself.
I have to get Colette out of here. I have to get her far away as possible. There may not be any time to wait. If I do that, that horrid man might trick her into his bed where he will do inappropriate things to her, before they are married. I have to keep him from doing that. I have to get Lulu to get everything loaded in the carriages now, before this monster of a man corrupts my daughter, Lucia thought to herself as she made her way to Lulu's room.
Lulu was just placing the last of her bags by the door, when Lucia walked into her room with a look of terror on her face. "My lady, is something wrong? You look as though you have seen a ghost.""Lulu, I need you and Colette to leave as soon as possible now. I don't care about that damn dinner with my husband and that man. I know he expects Colette and I to return back to finish the discussion that he started, but I can't sit there and listen to my husband make a deal with a monster. Lulu, I need you and Colette to leave now," Lucia said in a panic.
"My lady, Lord DeVille will see your daughter and I as we leave. He will be sure to stop us," Lulu said.
"Then go to Colette's room and tell her to dress like you, put on a cloak with the hood up, and make sure she keeps her face hidden until you are far away from her. I don't want that monster stopping her from being free of him. And please, keep reminding my daughter that I love her," Lucia said.
"I will be sure to keep reminding her every day until you make your way to us," Lulu said.
Lucia gave a sad smile. "That's the thing Lulu. I don't think I will be able to come to you and Colette. Lord DeVille will use me to lead him to you and Colette. Wherever the two of you go, I need you to keep it secret. That means no sending me letters, because he most likely will read them to get to Colette. Make sure she is happy and is well cared for. But most importantly, tell her to follow her heart and marry for love."
"And what about you, my lady? What will become of you," Lulu asked.
Lucia gave Lulu a sad smile again. "I'm not sure what my fate will be. Though I don't think that I will be surviving the wrath of Lord DeVille, when he finds out that Colette is no longer in the manor. I'm pretty sure he will take his anger out on not only me, but my darling husband as well; seeing as my husband is the one who is setting up this damn arranged marriage. I told Lucas that he shouldn't have rushed this arranged marriage. But like always, he doesn't listen to me, because he feels that he knows what is best for our daughter. Lulu, I ask that you take excellent care of Colette. And keep her out of the hands of Lord DeVille. Also, make sure you make it clear to Colette's descendants keep away from Lord DeVille."
"I'll do my best to keep any of Colette's descendants away from Lord DeVille. But I'll only be around for so long, unless I write a letter advising that all future descendants also continue to write letters warning the future to keep away from Lord DeVille. We won't allow that monster to get his hands on any of your family. I just hope that he doesn't have any sources of where I plan to take your daughter to keep her safe," Lulu said.
"Thank you, Lulu. Be quick and get Colette out of here. Make sure you keep our plan between you and her. Don't give that terrible man a chance to hear what you and Colette are up two. If he finds out, he will kill you and force Colette to be his wife," Lucia said gently giving Lulu a nudge to make her way to Colette's room to pass on the message.
Wasting no time bursting inside, finding Colette sitting at the vanity writing something on a piece of paper. Lulu rushed over, grabbing hold of the letter and throwing it in the lit fireplace. Colette turned around in fright spotting Lulu standing there.
"Lulu, what has gotten into you? I was only writing a letter to my good friend Viktoria. I don't want her to worry when she doesn't spot me walking around the town," Colette explained going to reach for another parchment.
Lulu slapped Colette's hand keeping her from grabbing another parchment paper. "No writing letters to anyone. We have to give the illusion that you dropped from the face of the earth. Ms. Klopstock and that man finds out about it, he will kill her and come for you. Now get your disguise on. We must leave. Your mother's orders."
"But I thought we were going to wait until everyone was asleep to leave," Colette asked while putting on her disguise.
"Your mother doesn't want to risk anything happening to you. She fears that if we stay here, the terrible man will prevent us from going through with the plan. She doesn't want that for you. Your mother wants you to go and live a normal life. Or as normal as you can without giving away your location. When we get to our new destination, you need to keep your guard up. You never know who could be working for the monstruous man," Lulu said before leading Colette out to the carriage. Both women climbed in, making their way away from the manor.
There is no breathing a sigh of relief until we are as far away from that terrible man as possible. I just pray that the lady of the house manages to make it out alive. Though I already know that is wishful thinking on my part. I know once that monster of a man finds out that we took his intended victim away from him, he will throw a fit and kill both the lord and lady of the house. Then he will go on the hunt for Colette. I won't allow him to have her, Lulu thought to herself as they made their way to the ships.
