WEDDING DAY

Keshay Lewis
"Honey"

When we woke up tensions were extremely high. We'd spent the day after our situation quiet. He handled business, and I dressed shopped. I chose to do it alone, as much as I hated to admit it Miro standing there and letting that happened kind of distanced me from wanting to be around his family as much. Sure I still like them, but it was one of those painfully clear moments when you realize all it takes is for things to hit the fan and you're in it alone. Omiro would always have O's side, and Donna would always have the side of her brothers, Ruby would have the side of her nephews, and Paris would have the side of her husband and brother in law.

I think of all the times Miro was the voice of reason but this time he wasn't. It almost felt like reverse psychology, Omiro who always put O in his place when he was wrong stood there quietly the entire time...I mean aside from him occasionally saying "O". Does that mean maybe I was wrong? At least more wrong than Omri?

I dislike the way my thoughts surround this especially on my wedding day. Right now I'm seated inside one of the rooms of the most beautiful church in Las Vegas. It was technically my idea to be married in a church. Though O hasn't spoken of God and I've been scared to even ask because I fear his answer may be one that has no belief at all. I still want to be married under God. And I suppose it's a good thing he agreed wholeheartedly.

"Whew it's happening it's happening. It is happening people!" Donna rushes out while pacing. I run my sweater hands over my silk bridal robe. While she's currently wearing a very light purple almost lavender silk dress that goes down to her ankles, I'd chosen them for both Paris and Donna to wear. Since technically they're my brides maids.

"Girl sit down." Ruby says with a laugh. She's wearing a purple two piece that is just the right amount of dressed up, it's a purple blouse and a matching pair of dress shorts.

"You're nervous like it's you getting married." Paris jokes.

"I'm nervous too. Everyone is going to be here, all of the Oliah's, the big five..." I trail off.

"Your husband." Paris finishes earning a laugh from us all. "Could've sworn I just seen Miro, Mirti, and KC all outside each fanning his sweat stains with church fans."

I let out a loud laugh seeing a simple look down from the girl that's right in front of me doing my makeup. "Sorry." I mutter. It's hard to stay still especially since my hair is being done at the same exact time.

"I'm getting a new sister today." Donna beams. "You know...we've always worried about O. But I will say. With you by his side I don't worry as much."

I smile at that seeing how much of a compliment it truly is. "Y'all make me sound so important." Its true. Everyone was so accepting of him marrying someone he's hardly known, I've been with them maybe three weeks. Almost a month. And the minute we said we're getting married we have immediate support. Maybe I'm being suspicious but I'm almost sure there's a reason for that, a reason why they are so excited he's finally with someone. Aside from just wanting to see him happy.

"Girl you are important. You are about to be a Mrs. Oliah. Watch how the world treats you, I've gone across the country and gotten royalty treatment. It's a beautiful thing." Paris brags.

I smile. "Yeah I guess that does sound nice." I admit.

"Hey sis," Miro calls out as he enters the room. I look into the vanity mirror expecting to see Donna speaking up but she never does. When I look over at him he's staring at me with something extended. I'm confused because it's my first time hearing him say that and I'm sure his first time saying it to me. "Someone special wanted you to have this."
