Layton Brooks

I woke up early, feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. Today was Dominic's birthday, and I had a surprise party planned that would blow his mind. I headed downstairs to start breakfast, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filling the air.

Michael and Kira were already up, lounging in the living room. They wandered into the kitchen, bleary-eyed, as I expertly flipped pancakes.

"This is cute. Is this from Ro's birthday?" Kira asked me holding her phone up and showing me my post, I made it when I got up.

"Yeah, that's one of my favorite pictures of them." I smiled.

"Damn, Layton, you're a morning person now?" Michael asked, rubbing his eyes.

"Only when there's a reason to be. Today's a big day." I replied, winking, they then laughed at me making me do the same. Kira plopped down on a stool.

"I'm so down for this party tonight. Dominic needs a break from all the bullshit."

"Amen to that." Michael agreed.

"He's been stressed the hell out. But Layton's got this. She's been planning this surprise for weeks." I smiled, feeling a sense of pride.

"I just want him to have a good time, forget about Anthony and his dad for a night." I said. Kira nodded vigorously.

"We've got everything covered. The club is set, the guest list is tight, and the music is gonna be fire." Michael chuckled.

"And I've got the drinks on lock. We're gonna get this party turnt up!" I laughed, feeling grateful for my brother and best friend.

"You two are the best. I don't know what I'd do without you." As we chatted, the morning sunlight streaming through the windows, Kira turned to me with a sly grin.

"So, have you and Dominic finalized the wedding plans yet?" I squealed with excitement.

"Oh, yeah! We've been looking at venues and I think we're going to go with the lake house. It's perfect, it'll be intimate, beautiful, and meaningful." Michael raised an eyebrow.

"Meaningful?" I nodded.

"Yeah, that's because we had our first date in a restaurant by a lake, it was so beautiful. And the view is stunning. So we decided to get married at a lake house. We can have the ceremony overlooking the lake, and the reception on the lawn." Kira sighed dreamily.

"That sounds gorgeous. What about the guest list? Who's making the cut?" I thought for a moment.

"We're keeping it small, just close friends and family. We don't want it to feel too formal or stressful." Michael snorted.

"Good luck with that. Dominic's got a lot of 'associates' who might expect an invite." I rolled my eyes.

"Don't even get me started. But we're firm on that. This is our day, and we want it to be special." Kira nodded in agreement.
