"So you've met him? Like face to face?" Tony asked May for the third time, trying to fully process the fact that she kept away the fact that she saw the kid they've been trying to find.
"Like I said, Tony," May's tone was significantly less patient than it was a second ago. "I was told to keep it a secret or they'd kill me!"
She was now sitting in Tony's office, next to her boyfriend, Happy, Natasha Romanoff, Sam wilson, bucky barnes and pietro maximoff.
All listening to her story word by word, trying to get as much information as possible.
"And you said he showed up alone, right?" Natasha eyed Tony, trying to remind him that the Italian lady got a temper shorter than his.
May sighed and rubbed her temple, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves before she nodded slowly. "Yes. He was there completely alone. He came from out of the cemetery, like he was waiting for me there."
"And there was nothing on him that wasn't usually there? And sign of scarring of torture?" Bucky asked as he leaned forward to rest his elbows on his thighs, trying to connect the little dots they have.
Bucky had his own suspensions to what was going on. He could swear he recognized 'Ghost's' fighting techniques.
Almost as if he fought them before.
But he just couldn't put his finger on it.
May shook her head and dropped her head back for a moment, almost like her head was too heavy for her to hold.
"No, he was even bigger than he first went out," she grumbled, mad that her own baby nephew is getting too comfortable in a place that wasn't safe.
But then, when she actually tried to remember peter, she noticed something unusual in his appearance. "Wait, he- he had those sort of type of bracelets on his wrists," she said, wrapping her hands around her own wrists as if she's mimicking the cuffs she saw on Peter's arms "They were like handcuffs without the chain. They were beeping at some point if I remember."
Natasha nodded and looked over at Tony. "Probably some sort of a bomb, like a -"
"Taze collar for dogs," Sam completed May sentence, getting an excited nod from her.
"Yes - but it didn't look like he's suffering or anything... he seemed genuinely happy, " she frowned in confusion, rethinking the whole scene all over again. "He seemed okay."
Tony groaned in frustration, pinching the bridge of his nose "yeah- and that's gives us absolutely nothing. Okay. Let's wrap it up." Clapping his hands and standing up, Tony closed up his meeting and walked over to his mini bar, pouring a not so small amount of whiskey, drinking it in one sip before he could even place the cup down on the bar.
Tony was scared. He won't admit it even if it means he'd lose his hair.
Peter was the son he never had. Peter was the boy who made it all worth it.
And right now, that boy was nowhere to be found, and there was no way to reach out to him.
He was so close to throw everything out and say 'fuck it' to Nick fury himself.
He was about to get in his suit and flip the whole universe until he finds him.
Tony was relieved that May met with him. He felt it physically relaxing him.
But why. Why didn't she tell him?
Since when this Italian lady listens anyway??
Tony felt a gentle squeeze on his thigh and a slight tug on his pants and he already knew how to put on his softest smile. "Morguna honey, I thought it was sleepy time" Tony said softly, his entire mood changing just from the sight of his little 'mini me'
"Mommy said it's okay I'd come and say hi to you before I sleep or else you'd drink until you'll look like sid the sloth" the little girl talked shamelessly as her father picked her up, sliding her tiny fingers along his nose.
Tony scoffed at her words and side eyed at his wife, pocking the 5 year old's cheek "mommy's just jealous because I can drink and she's boring."
Morgan, who didn't understand her dad's bite towards her mom, jumped off of Tony's arms and ran over to her mom to repeat what her dad just say as if pepper didn't hear that herself.
Tony let his eyes linger on the brunette, imagining what would happen if she was in Peter's position but quickly shook his mind off of it, knowing himself well enough to know it would prevent him from sleeping once again.
