"You're not out as you usually are" Caleb said with a subtle smile as he went down to sit next to you in the kitchen, resting his elbows against the small island and holding a can of coke with his free hand and titling his head forward to catch your eyes playfully.
You pushed the notebook a bit forward, stopping your writing when you felt his glare at you. "We don't need as much as we used to. We got more than we planned in our last mission" you explained slowly, leaning back against the chair.
That wasn't entirely true.
Yes, you've made around half a million I total, which is way more than you need.
But recently, dare you say, since peter joined, you found yourself spending more time in the training room with him.
Some of the guys picked up on it, and your excuse (who was half true) made sense. Peter was a new recruit who still needed to learn, still needed constant eye over him just to make sure he's all good.
Though you had your reasons.
Yes, it would be a lie if you said peter didn't hit a certain nerve, for the better or for the worse.
You found yourself staring at him every once in a while, more than you used to look at others when they first got there.
You watched him interact with everyone with such genuine respect and kindness, especially with the little twins.
Even Aiden, who was somewhat hard towards others, found a place of comfort with peter, talking to him quietly for hours on hours about star wars and science and whatnot.
"You still go out every night, even when we made tons and stacks of money, R" a smirk already forming on Caleb's face when he looked at you, knowing you're brain is already working on how to explain yourself "and you've been spending a lot of time with peter, more than usual" he pointed out, literally.
He knew he's the only one who can talk to you like that and about that so he was pretty confident coming to you with those accusations.
Narrowing your eyes at your twin brother, you clenched your jaw "are you suggesting anything Caleb? Are you asking something without asking?" Raising an eyebrow, you leaned a bit back to a better look on his reaction.
He sighed and turned around to lean his back where his hands just were, his smirk not leaving his face. Shrugging slowly, he knew his cocky ass won't get hurt, well not too badly hurt, so he let himself tug and keep on until you'd crack "he seems to have am eye on you too, you know," he started, looking at you from the corner of his eye, hoping he'd get a noticeable reaction out of you. You're not gonna give him the pleasure of that. "The guys and I talked about it, I'm not the only one who caught his eyes wondering."
"If you're suggesting I'm interested in peter parker, our new recruit, who is still in training, I hope you know what your answer is. You are well aware of my abilities and how I work, so I assumed you are smart enough to figure out an answer yourself, Caleb." When you finished speaking you closed up your notebook and pushed yourself back to stand up, looking at Caleb, who's expression didn't change since the moment he got here, which was not so surprising. "Bed. Now. I'm waking you all up first thing in the morning for an after talk. "
And with that, you left the kitchen.
Everyone were fast asleep when you quietly walked past the living room to the kitchen, grabbing a fresh pack of bandages before turning back to the hall, going all the way to the training room.
It was way past midnight, maybe around 3am.
So quiet, so empty, so clean.
Just what you needed.
You placed the small bag on the floor before sitting next to it, stretching your legs straight forward, taking in a deep breath before leaning in, pressing your chest tight to your knees with unbelievable ease.
It's been a while since you danced, usually you do every day but since peter has arrived, you've been so busy around him it took from your time for yourself.
