–hours later–

–Azriel–

"What in the hell is that?!" The scientist exclaimed fearfully before hiding behind Zena and her men.

Crossing my arms I leaned back against the wall watching amused as Nanku and Xeith tried giving the human a very awake and very upset tree-dweller that was screeching and squirming all over the place.

"It's a tree dweller for you to take home with you!" Xeith said a bit too happily. "Yes, we even caught a bunch of Haisu for you to take as well since you seem to like animals so much!" Nanku chimed in before holding up five different rodents by their tails proudly and stepping towards the scientist who seemed to recoil in disgust.

"Do you want to hold one?" they asked almost tauntingly"

"no no no! Don't get any closer with those beasts!" he shouted while continuing to hide behind Zena who seemed amused by the whole thing as well.

"But why? we thought you wanted to get a better look at the animals!" Nanku and Xeith fake whined, continuing to taunt him.

"I think I can see them just fine from here! Besides, this place is far from ideal when it comes to 'looking at' new and unknown creatures– I'd much prefer doing so with a glass wall between me and them!"

half a smile made its way onto my face as the boys continued to torment the scrawny human. if I didn't scare him off, I'm sure they would. I had no doubts in my mind that they would probably traumatize him by the time the humans left and make him rethink about coming back here ever again.

Turning my attention elsewhere I watched as Alita aided Varin and a few others with setting up a place for them to sleep during their stay.

it was strange having so many humans around but at the same time– refreshing.

Our tribe had grown curious and quite interested in humans ever since Alita and Kora came around. We had even grown in numbers with the coming of new blood from other tribes, making our lives much brighter and more diverse than ever before.

Everyone was lively and seemed to enjoy the company during this time. It was a good distraction from all the chaos and uncertainty that had hung over our heads for the past few weeks, and with the humans here I think everyone felt a bit safer. The Netaris wouldn't dare to attack us while their ship and armed soldiers were around.

Alita walked back over to me with a blanket in her arms, eyeing the boys as they practically chased the scientists around with their pets.

"Azriel– don't you think you should stop them before someone gets hurt?" She turned her gaze up to me.

with a shrug, I watched them 'accidentally' drop the treedweller making it screech and bite the scientist much to his horror and my amusement. "It's fine, they are harmless."

I would have to reward them later.

Alitas concerned face quickly changed into one of disapproval before she sighed and stood beside me. "just because you don't like someone, that doesn't mean you should torment them."

Relaxing a bit I pulled the blanket out of her hands and placed it over her shoulders. "It does when this particular person has upset my beautiful mate. I caressed Alita's cheek and she relaxed into my touch, closing her eyes.

"I'm serious Azriel." She mumbled with a bit of a pout.

"As am I, you are usually radiant and cheerful, and you were so happy to see your brother but that smile of yours has since disappeared with that scrawny human appearance."
