–10 days later–
“Is he supposed to change colors like this?” Nanku questioned.
“Yeah I thought humans weren't capable of changing colors!” Keith added.
“Will you two quiet down before you wake him?” Kora scolded the two boys who were sitting on either side of baby kion who was lying peacefully on the bed asleep.
with a sigh she turned to me as we both sat on the edge of the bed. “Sorry for asking you to come over here, I just didn't want to leave or wake him.”
“It's no problem at all!” I reassured, with a small laugh while trying to stretch my aching back. “ I've actually been feeling the need to stretch and get out of bed since everyone left. I think having my brother visit then leave so soon has made me a bit antsy, I think I'm getting a bit bored just sitting in my bed anyways. And when it comes to matters that concern the kids we should do whatever needs to be done to take care of them.”
We both looked towards kion, somehow and for some unknown reason his skin color had grown lighter in some places on his body no one could figure out what was happening nor if it was normal considering he was a hybrid.
Kion showed no abnormal signs of distress or discomfort and acted perfectly normal, and although the changes in skin tone are faint, they are noticeable enough to cause some concern.
“Has he been eating well?” I questioned.
“yang know that's the crazy thing, he eats and acts perfectly normal, he's so well behaved, it's almost scarier then the fact he's turning pink!” kora huffed.
“Well we can make a call to my brother and consult with the doctor, they’ll know what to do.”
setting up the communicator, we both sat and waited for varin to pick up on the other end, and once he finally did there was some unpleasant static coming through.
“h-hello?” varins voice spoke up but the visual of him was distorted.
“varin? Can you hear us?” I asked.
“ye-yeah but there's s-some kind of inter-terference going on.” He responded.
“I think the elders were talking about a storm that was approaching the other night, it might be that.” Kora stated.
I nodded before facing Varin again. “Varin, we need to speak with the doctor, something is happening with kora’s son and we aren't sure if it's good or bad.” I said.
“o-oh sure! I'll call him o-v-er, exactly what's happ-ening?” he asked.
“well… he's kind of changing color?” Kora responded while glancing back at Kion who was still sleeping even with Nanku and Xeith poking and playing with him.
Varin hummed before looking elsewhere. “I t-think i remember the doc s-saying something about being surprised by the baby's skin color w-when it was born.”
“What do you mean?”
“w-wel he said he e-expected a l-light-t-ter tone due to the mixed bl-o-o-o-o-d–” Suddenly the connection went dead and the signal was gone.
“varin?” I quickly tried reconnecting the call but to no avail the signal was lost.
“The storm must be getting worse?” Kora spoke up.
Shortly after losing connection, Elazar came into the den carrying some blankets. He glanced at us then to the body's before making his way over to them and wrapping kion up in some warmer furs. Once he was satisfied with Kion, he brought me over a white fur blanket that I recognized as one azriel had gifted me weeks ago. “You need to cover up more when you go to leave, the storm outside has started growing violent.”
