–Azriel–

it's as if time was standing still as I stepped out of my den, hearing a startled kora calling out Alitas name, and looking up to see her water break.

The look in her eyes as our gazes met was that of uncertainty and fear, it made my stomach churn because I felt as if she was a mirror reflecting my emotions that I guarded so well.

We were about to undergo the fight of our lives…This couldn't be happening at a worse time.

rushing over I quickly and carefully grabbed Alita, putting my arms under her legs and behind her back I lifted her up.

“someone get in contact with her brother and the other humans– now! kaizen get the healer!”

kaizen nodded before running off.

Alita whimpered, holding her stomach in discomfort as I rushed back to our den to lay her down in our bed.

“Az–”

from the look in her eyes I could sense she was scared, she wasn't supposed to be due for another two weeks, not only that but now the Netaris are coming– and she is vulnerable.

“It's fine… you are strong Alita, you shall pull through this just as you have with all the other problems you have faced.”

Kora rushed into the room carrying a box along with Elazar who was now holding their son.

wrapping kion in some blankets he set him inside of a makeshift crib we had created for our kit, where he would be safe.

Kora rushed to Alitas side checking her pulse while trying to comfort her. Kora set the container to the side and checked Alita over the best to her knowledge.

as another contraction hit, Alita's hand squeezed mine and she cried out, squeezing her eyes shut. leaning in I nuzzled her shoulder and gently stroked her head trying to comfort her the best I could.

“Where is her brother– when are the humans coming?!” I questioned Kora whose expression turned a bit grim.

“We can't contact them, the storm is blocking out the signal and.even if we could I doubt their ship could push through this blizzard, we have to take care of this baby ourselves.”

cursing under my breath I continued to comfort Alita as the healer came in along with another female, carrying a basin of water and some clean cloth. “Everyone who is not essential to the birth, out of the room!” she demanded.

Elazar nodded to Kora before stepping beside me and speaking. “I shall check on things outside.”

I nodded in acknowledgment and he swiftly left the den. The healer then came over and started feeling over Alita’s stomach as another contraction hit. The look on her face gave little away but I could sense something was off.

“What is it?” I questioned and Kora perked up looking between us before also placing her hand on Alita's stomach.

“the kit is in the wrong position…” the healer spoke and Kora’s eyes widened. “it's breached…”

Alita whimpered again as the healer moved around the bed to get onto the other side of Alita. before calling over the other female.

“What does that mean?” I questioned.

“it means we have to try and turn the baby around!” Kora stated as she got into position to help the healer attempt to move the kit.

“And if you can't?” I asked.
