–Azriel–

Upon arriving back within the village, we could see multiple people were both excited and anxious for the coming birth.

any new life being brought into this tribe was celebrated and praised by all, it's a moment of great joy and acted as a stepping stone into the future of our people. kits and youngling would Carry our legacy and traditions; they were the very hope of our people.

but today would be a bit different, not only was new life being brought into this world, but this child would bring about a new era for our people.

This would be the first ever human-xandisian hybrid to exist…

and hopefully not the last.

my eyes immediately locked onto Alita who was standing outside of the cavern anxiously waiting while people busted about in and out.

Turning in her direction I rushed towards her. her eyes quickly locked onto me and I could see relief wash over her. As soon as she was within arms length I pulled my fur cape around her shielding her from view.

“You should not be out here–” I turned her towards the cavern entrance to usher her inside but she ended up turning and putting her hands against my chest to stop me.

“I'm fine, I was waiting for you.”

As she looked up at my face I watched her face morph into worry. remembering the man I had killed earlier I quickly turned my head away and tried to cover up the blood on my face with my arm.

Alita’s small gentle hands reached up to grab my own, pulling my arm away from my face. I turned my head back down to gaze at her as she stared up at me. lifting one hand her thumb gently touched the cut across my cheek, the slight sting reminding me of its presence.

“Were you attacked?” She asked.

Closing my eyes I allowed myself a moment of comfort and peace while within her presence, my hand held hers more firmly. “It was nothing I couldn't handle.” it was clear she did not like that answer all too much but she opted not to say anything more on the subject.

opening my eyes once more I straightened myself and returned the conversation to the previous subject. “You should have just waited for me inside, the whole point of you staying indoors is so you do not get shot at like before.” I scolded.

“I know but I was worried you had been gone so long and I needed to be here to greet the ship–”

As if on cue, a distant whirring sound filled the air and many of the people outside slowed to a stop to watch and listen as the sound grew increasingly closer. “that's them!”

she removed herself out from underneath my cloak much to my annoyance but I disregarded it and stood beside her as we both looked up waiting.

It took no time at all for the giant metal flying beast they referred to as ‘ships’ came into view.

Everyone moved out of the clearing as it lowered itself to the ground spewing snow and debris everywhere.

I quickly shielded Alita with my cape and blocked anything from getting into my eyes with my own arm as the ship descended, and legs of some sort sprouted from its underbelly as it landed.

Soon after its feet had touched the ground the air returned to normal, no longer swirling with snow or any other loose objects, and the whirring sound died down into a whine as the entire structure beast seemed to settle.

When things calmed down, I allowed Alita to poke her head out from beneath my cape. Another more high pitched whirring sounded from the ship and we watched as the ramp opened up, lowering itself to the ground.
