As Y/N and Mellony made their way towards the Slytherin common room, their conversation was interrupted by the sudden appearance of three familiar faces: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley—the golden trio.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't a couple of Slytherins," Ron sneered, his tone dripping with disdain.
Hermione shot Ron a reproachful look before turning to Y/N and Melony with a friendly smile. "Hello there," she greeted, her voice polite but guarded. "I hope your first day at Hogwarts has been going well."
Y/N narrowed her eyes, sensing the tension in the air. "It was going fine until you three showed up," she spoke, her voice laced with sarcasm.
Harry raised an eyebrow, his green eyes narrowing in confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked, his tone challenging.
"It means," Y/N replied, her voice growing colder, "that I don't appreciate being treated like some sort of villain just because I'm in Slytherin. We're not all like Draco Malfoy, you know."
Ron bristled at her words, his temper flaring. "Oh really? And what makes you so different from him?" he shot back, his voice rising in anger.
Y/N met Ron's gaze head-on, her chin held high. "For starters, I'm not afraid to stand up for what I believe in, even if it means going against the status quo," she declared, her voice firm and unwavering.
Hermione stepped forward, a thoughtful expression on her face. "I can respect that," she said quietly, her tone more angry. "But you have to understand, Y/N, Slytherin has a reputation—"
"—that's been unfairly created by people like you," Y/N interrupted, her frustration boiling over. "Just because we're in Slytherin doesn't mean we're all evil or destined for darkness. We're individuals with our hopes and dreams, just like you."
With tension thick in the air, Y/N's bold declaration seemed to strike a nerve with the golden trio. Harry's jaw tightened, and Hermione's eyes flashed with insecurity.
"How dare you!" Hermione screamed, her voice sharp with anger. "You can't just brush off Slytherin's dark history and expect us to forget everything we've seen!"
Ron's face turned crimson with fury. "Yeah, you Slytherins are all the same—snakes, the whole lot of you!" he spat, his voice dripping with contempt.
Y/N's eyes blazed with defiance as she faced them down. "If you refuse to see beyond your prejudices, then that's your problem, not mine," she shot back, her voice steely.
With a frustrated huff, Harry turned on his heel, followed closely by Hermione and Ron. "Forget it, Y/N," he muttered, his tone cold. "We've wasted enough time here."
Y/N watched them go, her jaw set stubbornly. She refused to let their narrow-mindedness dampen her spirits. As she continued on her journey to the Slytherin common room, she couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in having stood up for herself and her house, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead with courage and determination.
As Y/N watched the golden trio walk away, a mixture of frustration and determination welled up inside her. However, before she could dwell on it further, Melony placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"You handled that really well, Y/N," Melony said, her voice soft yet full of admiration. "Standing up for yourself and your house like that takes courage."
Y/N offered Melony a grateful smile, feeling a surge of warmth at her friend's words. "Thanks, Mellony," she replied, her voice sincere. "I just couldn't stand by and let them make assumptions about us without speaking up."
Melony nodded in understanding, her blue eyes filled with empathy. "I know what you mean," she said softly. "But you showed them that Slytherins are more than just stereotypes. We're individuals with our strengths and virtues."
Y/N's heart swelled with gratitude for her friend's support. With Melony by her side, she felt ready to face whatever challenges Hogwarts had in store, knowing that she had a loyal ally in her corner.
"Thanks for being here, Mellony," Y/N said, her voice filled with sincerity.
Melony smiled warmly, her expression reflecting the bond of friendship between them. "Anytime, Y/N," she replied. "We Slytherins have to stick together, after all."
