The storm raged outside, the wind howling as rain pounded against the windows of the Gryffindor dormitory. Y/N sat on her bed, her knees pulled up to her chest, staring out at the swirling darkness. The storm outside mirrored the turmoil inside her heart, but strangely, it brought her comfort. She had always loved storms, finding a strange peace in their chaos.
But tonight, the storm brought no comfort, only a deep, gnawing loneliness. She had never felt so alone, not even in the moments after her mother's death. The choice she had made earlier weighed heavily on her, the fallout from her decision tearing at her insides.
A loud knock on the door jolted her from her thoughts. Frowning, Y/N hesitated for a moment before slipping off the bed and crossing the room. As she opened the door, her heart skipped a beat.
Mattheo stood there, drenched from the rain, his dark hair plastered to his forehead, and his eyes burning with a mix of anger and desperation.
"What are you doing here?" Y/N asked, her voice barely above a whisper, but tinged with frustration.
"We need to talk," Mattheo said, his voice low but intense. He stepped inside without waiting for an invitation, the door slamming shut behind him as he shook off the rain.
Y/N crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing. "There's nothing to talk about. I made my decision."
"Your decision?" Mattheo scoffed, glaring at her. "You mean abandoning me? Turning your back on everything we've been through?"
"I didn't abandon you, Mattheo!" Y/N snapped, her voice rising. "I'm trying to make things right! You know what you did—what you caused!"
Mattheo's eyes flashed with anger. "I know I made mistakes, Y/N, but you think abandoning me is going to fix anything? You think siding with Draco and Mellony is going to bring them back?"
Y/N's fists clenched at her sides, her body trembling with a mix of rage and pain. "It's not about bringing them back, Mattheo! It's about honoring them, about doing what's right! You were part of the reason they died—my mom, Pansy—how can I ever forgive that?"
Mattheo took a step closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "You think I don't know that? You think I don't feel that every single day? I've lost everything too, Y/N, but I'm trying to make things right in my own way. But you... you're just running away."
Y/N's heart pounded in her chest, the storm outside seeming to rage even louder as the tension between them escalated. "I'm not running away! I'm trying to stop more people from getting hurt because of you!"
Mattheo's face twisted with pain and fury. "You don't understand! You never understood what I had to do, the choices I had to make! But fine, go ahead and judge me. Just remember that when you're all alone, and they turn their backs on you too."
Y/N's eyes filled with tears, but she refused to let them fall. "You don't get to play the victim here, Mattheo. You made your choices, and now we all have to live with the consequences."
The room seemed to vibrate with the intensity of their argument, their voices clashing with the thunder outside. Mattheo's breath came in ragged gasps, his hands shaking as he fought to keep control of his emotions.
"Is this really how it's going to end between us?" Mattheo asked, his voice barely above a whisper, his eyes searching hers for any sign of the bond they once shared.
Y/N looked away, her heart breaking all over again. "maybe it is, you know it could've been different but i guess you didn't want that.'
For a moment, silence hung in the air between them, the only sound the relentless pounding of the rain against the windows. The anger that had flared between them slowly ebbed, leaving behind a cold, aching void.
Finally, Mattheo turned towards the door, his shoulders slumped in defeat. "I thought... I thought we were stronger than this," he murmured, more to himself than to her.
Y/N bit her lip, fighting back the sob that threatened to escape. "Oh, what the hell were we Mattheo? We weren't anything. We could've been a lot but you know what you did and that has completely changed how I see you now."
Without another word, Mattheo left, the door closing behind him with a finality that echoed through the empty room. Y/N stood there, staring at the closed door, feeling more alone than ever. The storm outside raged on, but this time, it brought no comfort, only a deep, unyielding sorrow.
