Shade, now six years old, ran out of of the hotel. He began to play as his mom walked outside. She watched him play with the village's kids. She enjoyed this feeling of her son having fun. (Name) had closed her eyes for a bit, but snapped them open when she heard a scream.

She looked around, not finding her son anywhere.

Meanwhile, Shade was scared when all he saw was darkness. He could hear the voices of his friends and his mother calling out for him.  He tried to call out to her, but nothing came out. He was scared out of his mind. It was like being back with Tox. He did not like this feeling. Then he felt something grab him and pulled him up. Something hugged him tight.

"Shade! Are you okay Sweetie? I was so worried about you!"

Shade recognized that voice. It was his mother's. He hugged her as tight as he could, crying into her.

"M-mommy, I w-was so s-scared. I c-couldn't see a-anything." "Sweetie, you're safe now. You just fell into the shadows." "W-what do y-you mean m-momma?" "You have a special gift, just like I do. You, my boy, are the Master of Shadows. I am a Shadow Demon. I will teach you how to master and control it." "C-can we s-start later m-momma?" "Of course Sweetie."

(Name) simply kissed his forehead and walked off with her shadows carrying their things.

Shade ended up falling asleep in my arms about two villages ago. We were now in Ignacia. We were here for a weapon from Four Weapons Blacksmith.

When I entered with my sleeping son, I saw a man with brown hair, fiery red eyes and lightly tan skin standing at the counter.

"Ah, (Name), what a nice surprise. And who is this little one?" "Shade, I adopted him three years ago. How is Kai doing?" "He's doing fine, he's running the backyard now." "That's good, glad he's doing good. How's Maya?" "She's doing good, our new baby is almost here." "That's great, I'm excited for their birth. How old is Kai again?" "He turned four three days ago. Anyways, what can I get ya?"

I looked at the weapons, then back to Ray.

"A small sword, dull enough for a kid to use but do damage to anything. Just not damage a person. Make sure it a black handle and the blade has shadowy look to it." "Ah, alright. Shouldn't be too hard to make. I'll have Kai deliver it to you when it's done. I'm assuming same address you always uses when coming to this village?"

I nodded with a smile.

"Alright then, ten dollars please." "Here you go Ray."

I handed him the money and left. I went to a small hut and laid Shade down in bed. I tucked him in and waited outside.

_______
After a few minutes, Shade came outside.

"Momma, where are we this time?" "Ignacia village. I'm waiting for a gift for you to arrive." "A present for me?" "Yes my son, go wait inside. I'll bring it to you when it gets here. Okay Sweetie?" "Okay mommy."

He then ran inside with a smile on his cute little face.

Soon I heard footsteps approaching. I closed my eyes to check, all I saw was little Kai carrying a sheathed sword.

At least he is not running with it this time.

I used my shadows to cover my face before the kid got here. And when he did get to my little hut, he wore this cute big smile on little face.

"(Name) I got the sword you requested." "I can see that Sweetie, thank you so much for delivering it to me little one."

I ruffled Kai's hair and took the sword from his little hands.

"When your baby sibling is born, make sure you always protect them. Be there for them, help them, comfort them, even if they say they don't need it. Okay?"

I said getting down to his level.

"Okay (Name), you always know everything!"

He hugged me then ran home.

I don't know everything though kid. I only know from experience. And that came from making mistakes.

I thought to myself before entering my hut.

"Shade, your gift is here Sweetie!"

I heard his little pitter patter of his feet heading this way.

"Yay! Present!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He was about to jump at me but didn't when he saw the sword. I released the shadows on my face and got down to his level.

"This sword is to be your practice sword only. Understand?"

He nodded and I handed him the sword. I stood tall and began teaching him how to use the sword and his powers.
