Shade (10)
I swung my sword at one of the clones mom made. She was away at the moment, her clones were somehow still here. The clones kept either dodging or blocking my hits and it was starting to get annoying.

"Ugh, why can't I hit these clones. This is supposed to be a fun training thing, one that is easy!" "Sorry kid, we were told to be tough to beat. Even if you're just a kid. Your enemies won't be so easy to beat kid." "Yeah kid, they won't just let you hit them." "Think outside the shadows."

It felt like they were taunting me. I didn't like it, not one bit. It made me mad.

"QUIET!!!!!"

I yelled before I fell into the shadows. I couldn't see or hear anything. I move at all, I was sinking. I couldn't even feel anything. It gave me nothing but fear. I couldn't breath. It felt like my body was being crushed and twisted. The pain started to become too much and I screamed in pain, but no sound came out. I could feel my lungs being torn apart. My stomach felt like it was being twisted. My heart felt like it was being stabbed by millions of swords. Soon, I lost consciousness.

(Name)
I was walking around Jamanakai Village looking for ingredients for supper tonight.

"(NAME)! YOU HAVE TO COME HOME QUICK! SHADE IS STUCK IN THE SHADOWS AND WE CAN'T GET HIM OUT! WE TRIED EVERYTHING!"

My shadow told me. I panicked ran home at top speeds.

____
When I got there, I saw Shade's shadow stuck. I rushed over. I tried to pull him out, but I couldn't reach him. I my panic turned into a panic attack. I had to remake my clones to try and help, but we failed. I could see he was struggling to breath. I haven't even taught him to breath in the shadows yet. I calmed down with deep breaths. I felt myself sink into the shadows. I swam down to my son and held him close.

My clones couldn't go as deep as I can. I swam up as fast as I could to the light. I pulled us out and tried to wake him up, but I couldn't. I decided to preform ancient spell to aid him.

"From the light of the Heavens to the darkness of Hell. From the Earth to the stars above. I call upon your forces to aid my child."

As I spoke, a huge black magic circle appeared and glowed beneath me. I kept going.

"Save him from his death. Give him life and in return I give my sight and my voice."

The circle began spinning quickly. Shade's skin began changing to a shade of grey. His eyes slowly opened as the circle stopped and disappeared.

"Mom?"

I hugged him tightly. I knew I could no longer speak. I pulled away from him and looked at his face. It slowly disappeared from my vision.

I'm glad that his face was the last thing I saw, even if he was crying a little.

Present time

Shade helped his mother up a tall flight of stairs.

"Mother, I don't know why we are climbing up this mountain." "It's because your mother needs a more stable place to train you." "Yeah, plus an old friend of hers lives up here." "Up here?" "Yup, Mountains of Impossible Height. He has a monastery where he trains three ninjas." "She once stayed here during his times in need."

Shade sighed at his mothers shadows.

"How can you be sure he'll let us stay?" "He is a kind and gentle man." "Yeah, he will def let us stay." "Plus he owes your mother a favor for helping out."

Shade sighed again.

____

Upon reaching the to, Shade saw a set of giant wooden doors with metal on it. He watched as his mother knocked on the doors. Shade had believed that this man wouldn't let them stay, so he began thinking of better places to stay.

The door opened and an old man with a white beard stood there. The old man looked shocked when he saw (Name) standing there with a man with grey skin.

"(Name), this is quite the surprise. What brings you here dear friend?" "My mother believes you will allow us to stay here. I don't believe you will."

Wu stroked his beard in thought.

"Of course you may stay here with us. (Name) is a dear friend to me. Please come in."

Shade was surprised at the answer, while his mother silently laughed as she walked into the monastery. Shade quickly ran to his mother's side.

"Shade, please try to be nice to Wu's students while we are here." "Of course, well I'll try to mother."

(Name) gave her child a nod. She sat down on a bench. Her son looked around the training area.

"Mother, how do you plan to train me here?" "Simple child, one must see potential where others do not son."

(Name) turned her head to Wu and nodded. Wu used his bamboo staff to push a dragon aside. He then used said staff to push a button. An obstacle course rose from the ground.

Shade was surprised. A door opened and there stood four teenagers. One of them recognized the sword Shade carried.

"Hey what are you doing with that sword!?"

He tackled Shade, angrily. (Name) turned her head to Wu again.

"Wu, I thought you were training three ninja? Not four." "Apologies friend, I acquired the fourth when I was looking for the fire master." "Wait, that voice."

Shade took the chance and threw the teen off him.

"Kai, is that you?"

(Name) silently chuckled to herself.

"Yeah, it's me. Kai."

Kai went to run at (Name), but Shade stopped him with his blade, the last blade Ray made for (Name).

"Don't even think about it boy. Do not touch my mother." "Shade, be nice."

(Name)'s shadow spoke as she herself smacked Shade upside the head.

"Mom! He was gonna-" "Gonna what, hug me? Shade, that boy is Kai Smith. The boy who always delivered my swords to us. He is Ray's kid. Be nice to him. Come here Kai."

(Name) held an arm out for him. Kai moved past Shade and gave (Name) a hug. She returned the hug.

"Sensei, who are they?" "Boys, meet the Warrior of Shadows (Name) and her son Master of Shadows Shade." "Wait, I thought one person per element?" "(Name) is a special case. She is someone not of this realm, she is older than she looks. You may think of her as a beast." "One must let the mind wonder to find enlightenment."

The four teens were confused as to why (Name)'s shadow spoke for her.

"My mother gave up her voice and sight to save me. I owe her my life and more for that and raising me."

Jay was about to ask how when Wu told them to get to training.
